Da Nang takes good care of its employees

In their efforts to take the best possible care of Da Nang’s employees in the both material and spiritual life, as well as sharing difficulties with poor employees, foster workplace enthusiasm, ignite passion and creativity in the city’s employees to increase labour productivity, the Da Nang Trade Unions at all levels have organized their two Lunar New Year (Tet) Market events for their members as part of the 2024 "Tet Reunion - Spring Sharing" Program.

Visiting such an event allowed trade union members to shop for essential products at preferential prices while receiving free medical advice and check-ups from healthcare workers, along with buy medicine at preferential prices.

Co-organized by the Trade Union organization of the Da Nang High-Tech Park and Industrial Parks, along with Hai Chau and Cam Le branches of the municipal Confederation of Labour, the first-ever market held at the municipal Labor Cultural House featured nearly 70 booths of participating partners selling essential items with 5 to 30% discount on their products. Furthermore, visiting other booths allowed trade union members in the city to discover a variety of thrilling games that gave them the chance to win amazing prizes, enjoy food, get free haircuts, watch Bai Choi (Folk singing) performance, and other interesting activities.

Also at the event, the organizers gave 16,030 gifts totaling VND 4.7 billion to trade union members in especially difficult circumstances, and offered 15,200 free shopping vouchers worth VND 1.5 billion in total to others.

During the opening ceremony of the second market event held at the Lien Chieu District Administration Center, 50 cash gifts valued at VND 500,000 each were given to trade union members in difficult circumstances by the municipal Confederation of Labour on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024 as part of  the Organization’s program to support those in difficult circumstances. Overall,  19,900 gifts totaling VND 9,950 billion, including 8,000 gifts offered by the municipal government, were given to poor trade union members.

Moreover, 30,000 shopping vouchers worth VND 3 billion in total were also offered to eligible trade union members to allow them to do shopping at this event. In addition, 2,500 trade union members across the city also received online gift vouchers totaling VND 750 million from the municipal Confederation of Labour to allow them to shop on the e-commerce platform of the Viet Nam Trade Union Tet market.

The second event saw the participation of 40 businesses with more than 70 booths providing essential services, selling goods for the same price and price-stabilized products in addition to offering 5 - 50% off on their products and services along with other incentives.

Mr. Dang Tran Binh, a representative of the FPT Digital Retail Joint Company, said: "This is the second year we have participated in such an event, with 15 - 50% discount off on our products."

Visiting this event allowed trade union members to get access to employment consulting and job introduction services. The event took place from January 18 – 21. The 4-day event also featured cultural activities, music shows, and exciting games to win amazing prizes during evening hours.

Mrs. Phan Thi Thuy Linh, the Chairwoman of the Municipal Confederation of Labour, said that the 2024 Trade Union Tet Market is part of a series of the organization’s activities under the 2024 "Tet Reunion - Spring Sharing" Program to take care of trade union members across the city, thereby calling on authorities at all levels, employers, welfare partners and the whole society to join efforts to take better care of the city’s employees. In addition, importance has been attached to organizing specific activities that benefited the city’s employees. Included were visiting and giving gifts to those who could not afford to return home to celebrate Tet with their families, single workers in difficult circumstances, providing free transportation to immigrant workers to bring them home for Tet, honoring 300 grassroots trade union for their dedication to work, as well as honoring businesses for their efforts to take good care of their employees.
