Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Tran Chi Cuong highly lauded the great efforts of units and localities for fully and thoughtfully implementing regimes, policies and public works for organisations and individuals tasked with searching and gathering the remains of martyrs in recent times.

He asked relevant agencies to continue to thoroughly grasp and seriously implement the project on searching and collecting the remains of martyrs, and the other on identifying martyrs' remains still lacking information.

The focus should be on building an integrated database on martyrs and martyrs' graves, adding them to the search map for martyrs' remains; as well as providing information about martyrs and martyrs' graves for relatives and families of martyrs, he added.

Over the past 10 years, the Da Nang Steering Committee 515 was allocated nearly VND2.3 billion VND for organising 63 surveys and collecting 112 martyrs' remains. Also, memorial and burial ceremonies were held according to the city’s regulations. Every year, the municipal People's Committee allocates funds to upgrade the graves and 20 martyrs' cemeteries citywide.

The Steering Committee 515 paid benefits, totalling more than VND2.46 billion, to 1,193 front-line citizens participating in the resistance wars against France and the US and on international missions.

At the same time, benefit payments, worth over VND280 million, were made to 131 subjects who directly participated in the resistance war against the US but did not receive allowances.

In addition, more than VND2.23 billion was spent on paying benefits for 426 demobilised soldiers who participated in the resistance war against the US to save the country.

On this occasion, the Chairman of the municipal People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 5 collectives and 11 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing the Prime Minister's decisions on regimes, policies and work to ensure organizations and individuals responsible for searching and gathering martyrs' remains in the period 2014-2023.
