Over 100 people pick up trash in Da Nang
In response to the Clean Day 2024 themed "Youth for the environment", more than 100 pupils, students and workers across Da Nang got actively involved in picking up trash along a section of Tran Hung Dao Street between its intersections with the Tran Thi Ly and the Han River bridges.
Participants are divided into many small groups to pick up trash. |
Organised by the Da Nang Garbage Lovers' Association, the activity aimed to raise the public's awareness of littering.
In the end, the section of Tran Hung Dao Street became cleaner and more beautiful. The amount of trash picked up was mostly plastic bags and cups, straws, foam boxes, etc.
If trash is not thrown away in the right place, environment will not only be negatively impacted, but human health as well. Also, littering destroys the urban landscape, leaving an unfavorable impression of urban civilisation on tourists.
The activity attracts the participation of many people in the city, contributing to spreading the message that environmental protection is a common responsibility of the entire society. |
Knowing about the activity on social networks, Vo Thanh Thi, the 10th grader of the Nguyen Hien Senior High School, immediately registered to participate in with the desire to contribute little effort to cleaning up the environment. This is the 4th time she has taken part in the meaningful activity.
“Every time I bend down to pick up trash, I always remind myself to throw trash in the right place. This time, I invite 2 more my friends to join the activity. Despite the hot weather, I feel very happy because I am contributing to beautifying the environment and the image of the city" Thi said.
Mr. Huynh Xuan Toan, a member of the Da Nang Garbage Lovers’ Association, shared, littering was very easy, but not everyone bent down to pick up trash. Through this activity, the Association wished to contribute a small part to raising people's awareness about ensuring environmental hygiene, throwing trash in the right places, and joining hands to build Da Nang into an environmentally-friendly city.
