Protecting the environment while travelling
Along with experiential tourism, young people need to raise awareness of environmental protection because exploring nature is not only to enjoy the beauty and find peace but also a way to contribute to environmental protection and sustainable tourism development.

Harmony with nature
Located more than 30km northwest of Da Nang center, Hoa Bac Commune, Hoa Vang District is known as an ideal tourist destination for those who love camping, thanks to its natural beauty and fresh climate.
In recent years, camping activities have increasingly attracted young people. Mr. Pham Tung Duong, the owner of fanpage ‘Camping in Da Nang’ shared: “When people put aside their phones, they become closer and share more with each other. The soul is healed by the surrounding nature with the sound of flowing streams, birds singing and the vast sky”.
Camping tourism gives participants the opportunity to interact with each other deeply and helping them reduce their dependence on daily electronic devices. Not only does camping help young people find peace in the hustle and bustle of life, but it also encourages them to live independently and interact strongly with the surrounding environment. This makes the experience unique and new compared to resort tourism.
This activity not only helps young people realize the beauty and value of nature but also helps them discover the small joys in life, thereby healing their souls and developing themselves comprehensively.
Mr. Huynh Dinh Nhat Cuong, a member of the ‘Camping in Da Nang’ group, said: “Travelling and bringing back beautiful memories of the places we go to is not enough, we also have the responsibility to preserve and protect these sites of beautiful nature so that those who come later can enjoy it."
Joining hands to protect the environment
In the context of spontaneous tourism becoming more and more popular, Hoa Bac Commune witnessed an increase in spontaneous adventure tourism activities, especially from young people. Adventure tours with the exploration of nature bring rich, exciting experiences and connect people with nature, along with raising many issues related to environmental protection awareness and security.
Mr. Thai Van Hoai Nam, the Chairman of Hoa Bac Commune People's Committee, said: “Most spontaneous camping areas operate mainly on mudflats, river banks, and stream banks within 5% of the land area managed by the commune’s People's Committee. Commune makes it very difficult to manage. The problem is related to the complexity of controlling a large number of tourists and also it involves the risk of forest fires and environmental pollution due to the habit of burning fires and littering”.
Recognising the seriousness of this problem, Hoa Bac Commune’s authorities have implemented environmental protection measures such as organising periodic cleanups, installing warning signs and increasing patrols. However, despite these efforts, the problem has yet to be completely resolved. Solving the problem of environmental protection not only requires the engagement by authorities but also awareness and active participation of both residents and tourists.
To do this, Mr. Thai Van Hoai Thanh, a local resident, said: “Every person visiting Hoa Bac Commune needs to be responsible and aware of environmental protection. Tourists should not stay overnight in unlicensed places to avoid endangering themselves and the community. Also, they should go to accommodation activities under the control of the authorities”.
It is highly recommended that each trip needs to be carefully prepared, guided by experienced people and strictly comply with environmental protection regulations. We need to see the places we visit as our homes, not just as stops on our journey. From there, change the way of thinking and be responsible in joining hands to protect and maintain the natural beauty of tourist attractions, contributing to the sustainable development of the city’s tourism.
