A workshop was held in Da Nang on Thursday to seek solutions to strengthen management over wildlife and illegal ivory trade.

The event was jointly organised by the Management Agency of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Viet Nam, and the Da Nang Forest Protection Department.

Over the past time, Da Nang has been actively involved in fighting, clarifying and strictly handling those who violated regulations on protecting endangered, precious and rare animals.

In the coming time, to effectively implement the project on reducing the demand for ivory, the city will continue to strictly implement legal regulations on wildlife protection; encourage accommodation establishments, travel firms and souvenir shops not to illegally trade products made from ivory; and proactively denounce those who violate the law on illegal trading of products made from ivory.
