The Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre Region 2 (Da Nang MRCC) said on Tuesday that it has successfully rescued a crewmember in distress in Hoang Sa waters.

Previously, at 7:00 am on April 7, a crew member of fishing boat QNa 91892TS suffered from left hemiplegia and semi-consciousness whilst fishing in the waters of Hoang Sa, about 70 nautical miles east of Bombay Island and Hoang Sa Archipelago.
After receiving the SOS message, the Viet Nam Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Viet Nam MRCC) immediately helped the boat’s crew members to contact doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115 to ask for first aid instructions, as well as required the ship to immediately stop operating and turn back to the mainland.
Through diagnosis, the victim had brain stroke with high risk of death, so he needed urgent emergency treatment.
At about 7:40 am on April 8, 2024, Da Nang MRCC sent rescue ship SAR 412, carrying doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115, to scene to help the sick fisherman.
At 6:19 pm on the same day, the maritime rescue force approached the fishing vessel and provided first aid to the sick crewmember on site. Initially, the patient overcame the critical condition and saved his life.
At 5:15 am on April 9, Da Nang MRCC brought the crew member back to Da Nang mainland safely and handed him over to the hospital for treatment.
