Joining forces to help Hoa Vang Suburban District build new rural areas

In their efforts to ensure effective implementation of the city’s emulation movement ‘Da Nang’s residents join hands to build new rural areas in the 2023-2025 period’, agencies, units and businesses across Da Nang have been active in supporting resources to help Hoa Vang Suburban District through their specific actions in a bid to facilitate the district to build new-style rural areas, promote local economic development, and ensure social protection for everyone.

Thanh Khe District Party Committee Deputy Secretary Nguyen Thi Minh Nguyet said that in its efforts to join hands with the city’s agencies and units to support Hoa Vang District in building new rural areas, Thanh Khe district has already registered to support Hoa Son Commune. Focus was paid to spending VND 200 million on repairing degraded houses for the poor in 2024 and 2025, thereby, helping people in difficult circumstances have stable and safe housing, and feel secure for economic development in order to improve their living conditions.

Meanwhile, Hai Chau District poured VND 450 million into repairing houses for 10 poor households, and VND 300 million into refurbishing 5 others for social policy beneficiaries in Hoa Phu Commune, as well as donated 15 sets of computers totaling VND 150 million for local schools.

Cam Le District has registered to donate VND 200 million to Hoa Vang District in 2024 and 2025 to upgrade furniture and equipment in community houses in disadvantaged villages.

Da Nang Youth Union Secretary Nguyen Manh Dung remarked that this year, the organization registered to donate 40 tables and 400 chairs to 4 cultural houses in 4 villages of Hoa Nhon Commune. Furthermore, heed will be paid to donating 40 sets of computers, and 200 sets of primary and senior high school textbooks, as well as granting 60 scholarships to local schools, and deploying youth union members and young people to Hoa Nhon Commune to help it clean drains, and renovate a lake in front of Hoa Vang District Party Committee’s former Revolutionary Base.

“A combined total of VND 850 million has been raised from youth union members, young people and sponsors across the city with the purpose of helping disadvantaged people, including school pupils in the district," added Mr. Dung.

Municipal Women's Union Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Huyen said that the organization had registered to support women in Hoa Vang District to grow 1,000 banana trees for leave harvesting purpose.

According to Mrs. Huyen, growing bananas for leaves will help local women develop their family economy. In addition, the municipal Women's Union has spent VND 150 million on launching campaigns to encourage women’s participation in beautify local roads through planting along roadsides, as well as encourage their participation in mitigating natural disasters and responding to climate change, contributing to managing natural disasters and building safer communities.

Together with the units, the Party Committee of Municipal Government Agencies has donated VND 1.08 billion to Hoa Vang District. In detail, donated money has gone to buy new equipment in the meeting houses of 12 village cultural houses in Hoa Phong, Hoa Phuoc and Hoa Nhon communes, build 2 new houses for families in difficult circumstances in Hoa Lien Commune, build 2 others for poor veterans in Hoa Khuong and Hoa Lien communes, and support 10 learning corners for students in difficult circumstances in Hoa Lien Commune.

Besides, the DHC Suoi Doi Corporation has registered to support VND 150 million to repair houses for 5 poor households in Hoa Phu Commune, another VND 150 million to repair houses for 5 poor social policy beneficiaries. Importance has been attached to support 100 million for learning encouragement and talent promotion programs, and donating Learning Corners for poor children at a total cost of VND 100 million.

Head of Hoa Vang District Party Committee’s the Mass Mobilization Commission Bui Nam Dung said that till date, 33 agencies, units, and businesses have already registered to donate over VND 16.7 billion in total to help the district build new-style rural areas in the 2023-2025 period.

“The support of agencies, units and businesses have contributed to helping the district achieve its set goals as soon as possible. The district commits to using donated money effectively, and using for the right purpose, thereby improving the material and spiritual life of local people, contributing to promoting local economic development, and raising local people's income," Mr. Dung said.

All 11 communes of Hoa Vang District have been recognized as new-style rural areas according to the criteria set for the 2010-2015 period and the 2016-2020 period while 5 out of 11 communes have attained advanced standards in new-style rural areas. Furthermore, 22 out of 113 villages have been recognized as exemplary new-style rural areas, and Hoa Vang District was recognized in 2015 as a new-style rural area by the Prime Minister.

A combined total of nearly VND 2,612 billion has been spent on building new-style rural areas in Da Nang in the 2021-2023 period. In detail, nearly VND 341.7 billion came from the city budget while more than VND 1,472.2 billion came from the integrated budget, VND 736.2 billion was credit capital, and VND 61.8 billion was raised from local people.

Twenty villages of Hoa Vang District have registered for smart standards. By 2024, at least 2 villages of the district strives to meet smart standards in new style rural areas. The municipal government has agreed to choose Hoa Phuoc Commune to help it attain smart standards in new-style rural areas on trial basis.

In the 2024-2025 period, all communes of Hoa Vang District strives to attain advanced standards in new-style rural areas while at least 5 communes or 45.5% of the district’s total communes will be recognized as exemplary new-style rural areas. In particular, by 2024, 2 communes will attain advanced standards in new-style rural areas, and 2 communes will be recognized as exemplary new-style rural areas. By 2025, 4 other communes will attain advanced standards in new-style rural areas while 3 other communes will be recognized as exemplary new-style rural areas, and the entire Hoa Vang District will be recognized as a town.
