In 2011, Nguyen Huy Linh graduated from University of Fire Prevention and Fighting and was assigned to the Firefighting and Rescue Team of the Da Nang's Police Department.

Over the past 13 years, Linh and his team have consistently been on standby, ready to respond to emergencies with the goal of saving lives and protecting property, whether in fire incidents or rescue operations.

At the Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Division, Major Nguyen Huy Linh is recognised as one of the most experienced officers in combating fires and handling rescue missions. He has directly participated in extinguishing large fires and rescuing people from serious accidents under the direction of his superiors. Throughout his service, he has offered practical, creative strategies that have significantly contributed to timely and effective firefighting and rescue efforts. He has guided many to safety during rescue missions.

Major Linh has been directly involved in four major rescue operations, saving four lives. Notable among these was the workplace accident on October 3, 2019, at a construction site on Nguyen Van Thoai Street in Son Tra District, which he vividly remembered. He recounted that the scene was chaotic and required precise technique and experience to manage effectively, ensuring the safety of both the victims and the rescue team. He personally commanded the operation, cutting through a 10mm steel rod that had impaled a victim to facilitate their transfer to emergency medical service 115.

Other significant rescues include saving a person who fell into a 10-meter-deep ravine on the way up Son Tra mountain on January 22, 2021; rescuing a victim from a 20-meter-deep ravine on Hai Van Pass on March 28, 2021; and a traffic accident on October 4, 2021, where a 2.5-ton truck overturned, trapping the driver inside the cabin.

On July 9, 2022, Major Linh and his team rescued six people stranded by a flash flood in Phu Tuc Hamlet, Hoa Phu Commune, Hoa Vang District. He commanded the rescue operation, ensuring the victims were safely brought to a secure area and handed over to medical personnel.

Faced with life-threatening situations, Major Nguyen Huy Linh and his team never hesitate, always prioritising the safety of the people. Alongside his rescue duties, Major Linh actively participates in developing safety plans for major political, cultural, and social events in the city. Notably, in 2019, he contributed to the successful planning and execution of a national-level firefighting and rescue drill at the Vinpearl Condotel Riverfront Da Nang, VinCom Ngo Quyen Shopping Centre, and Azura High-End Apartment Complex, involving 69 fire engines and nearly 1,000 participants.

As Secretary of the Youth Union organisation of the Fire Prevention, Fighting, and Rescue Police Division, Linh has harnessed the enthusiasm and creativity of young members, organising youth projects linked to professional tasks. These initiatives include fire prevention and rescue education in schools and the "A Day as a Firefighter" programme for children. These activities have educated over 2,000 students in basic fire safety knowledge and emergency response skills.

Beyond his professional duties, Major Linh is deeply involved in community activities, particularly blood donation drives. He has motivated his team to donate 500 units of blood during events such as "Red Sunday" and "Pink Drops of Blood," organised by the Da Nang Youth Union and the Youth Union organisation of the Da Nang Department of Public Security.

He established a "Blood Bank" at his unit, encouraging officers and their families to donate platelets for patients in local hospitals. His efforts have led to over 100 platelet donations from his team, with Linh personally donating platelets nine times and whole blood 12 times.

For his dedication and service, Major Nguyen Huy Linh has earned the trust and respect of his colleagues and superiors. He has received numerous commendations from the city's police chief, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee, the municipal Youth Union Executive Committee, the Central Youth Union Executive Committee, and the Minister of Public Security. However, Major Linh believes his greatest reward is the trust of his colleagues and the peace and safety of the community.
