To ensure every youth becomes an ambassador of the law, the Da Nang Youth Union and its chapters have actively implemented engaging activities and models to attract young people's interest.

Enhancing online interaction

Recently, the Da Nang Youth Union has organised an online interaction programme, aimed at educating legal knowledge to the youth on social media under the theme "Da Nang Youth with Vietnamese Law". Accordingly, each quarter, the programme will cover topics such as the Cybersecurity Law 2018, forms of online fraud, drug prevention and control, traffic safety, and crime and social evils prevention. For instance, the first session entitled "Propagating and Disseminating Policies and Laws on Cybersecurity and Conduct in Cyberspace" recorded 3,600 views, 1,500 comments, and hundreds of shares.

The second session, themed "Propagating, Disseminating, and Educating Legal Knowledge on Drug Prevention and Control for Youth", presented by Captain Nguyen Hong Tam from the Drug Crime Investigation Division of the Da Nang Department of Public Security in early June, also drew significant attention. The programme highlighted the alarming trend of young people using drugs as a status symbol.

Captain Tam noted that young people often use synthetic drugs and drug-infused products like juice, candies. This is particularly dangerous as adolescents do not fully understand the harmful effects of these drugs. "The best prevention is for students to build a healthy lifestyle, exercise daily, avoid associating with drug users, and actively participate in community and volunteer activities that benefit society" Captain Tam advised.

Participating in the programme, Bui Minh Anh, a second-year student at the University of Economics - the University of Da Nang said that legal knowledge can be quite dry, but the programme's interactive social media platform makes it easy to understand the laws through direct answers from experts.

Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union Le Cong Hung shared that the programme included online discussions and competitions. Each quarter, a different topic is covered with experts in the field to make it accessible to the youth. Through two sessions, there have been thousands of interactions, comments, and shares with practical questions about common legal violations. This innovative approach significantly contributes to educating the city's youth.

Spreading from the grassroots

In Hoa Bac Commune, the "Youth Coffee with Legal Propaganda" model has also attracted many young participants.

Nguyen Thi Lan, Secretary of the Youth Union organisation of Hoa Bac Commune, said the programme aimed to provide Youth Union members, especially at-risk youth, with a deep understanding of the law.

"To avoid dry legal propaganda, we chose to have conversations with young people in open-air cafes. Each session has attracted 30-50 participants. The success of this model is evident in the serious attention and proactive questioning from the youth. As a new model, we will strive to perfect it and continue implementing it in the third quarter" Lan added.

Thai Van Hoai Nam, Chairman of the Hoa Bac Commune People's Committee and Head of the Steering Committee for Crime Prevention, HIV/AIDS, Social Evils, and the All-People National Defence Movement, said the model focused on propagating information about security, education, employment, and loan assistance for at-risk youth under the commune's management, as well as the fight against and handling of crimes and legal violations related to weapons, explosives, and support tools.

"We hope every young person in the commune becomes a legal culture ambassador. Understanding, living, and working according to the law will provide a solid foundation for a better and more developed social life," expressed Nam.
