The Identity Law 2023 officially takes effect from July 1, 2024 with 10 new points, including the expansion of eligible recipients.

Over the past two days, a large number of people have come to the headquarters of district-level police divisions to change and renew their identity cards according to regulations. Notably, this is the first time Vietnamese citizens under 14 years old can be issued Identity Cards upon personal request.

According to the Identity Law 2023, when Vietnamese citizens under 14 years old are issued Identity Cards, they will minimise the amount of paperwork while carrying out administrative procedures and enjoy many benefits when completing procedures such as traveling, studying and healthcare.
