Over the past two days, a large number of people have come to the headquarters of district-level police divisions to change and renew their identity cards according to regulations. Notably, this is the first time Vietnamese citizens under 14 years old can be issued Identity Cards upon personal request.

According to the Identity Law 2023, when Vietnamese citizens under 14 years old are issued Identity Cards, they will minimise the amount of paperwork while carrying out administrative procedures and enjoy many benefits when completing procedures such as traveling, studying and healthcare.

Police officers in Cam Le District carry out procedures to grant Identity Cards for many citizens, including children under 14 years old.

At the headquarters of the Police Division in Son Tra District, from 8: 00 am, a large number of people are seen lining up to wait for their turn to get a new form of Identity Cards.

Many young children are taken by their parents to the police station to have their identity cards granted.

Iris biometrics are collected by the police along with fingerprints and facial photos.

For the first time, Vietnamese children aged under six, under 14, and from 14 years old and older can be issued Identity Cards upon request.
