In an effort to provide a healthy environment for recreational activities, the Youth Union organisations across Da Nang regularly organise a variety of vibrant cultural programmes and festivals. These activities not only enrich the cultural and spiritual lives of young people and nurture public art, but also foster dynamism, helping the younger generation steer clear of social evils.

In mid-August 2024, the Youth Union organisation in Hoa Hai Ward, Ngu Hanh Son District, held the "Exciting Summer Festival" 2024, attracting over 300 youths from six residential clusters in the area.

During the event, Youth Union members engaged in lively cultural activities such as singing, dancing, flashmob competitions, and group games. These activities contribute to the growth of the cultural and artistic movements, providing a healthy and beneficial playground for young people in the area.

On August 18, the youth of An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District, organised the "Melodies of the Homeland" arts competition and summarised the summer activities of 2024. The competition featured 12 vibrant performances of dancing and singing by Youth Union members from six residential areas.

Nguyen Duc San, a member from Thuan An 9 Residential Area, An Khe Ward, shared that from rehearsals to the competition itself, all members experienced a lot of joy and gained valuable experiences. Notably, many of them became more confident and discovered our artistic talents. This was an opportunity for them to improve life skills, strengthen solidarity, learn to share, and strive for collective success.

This summer alone, the Youth Union organisation of Hai Chau District organised nearly 20 cultural and artistic activities for the youth in the district. The largest event was the summer camp held in late July 2024, attracting nearly 1,000 youths from the area. The camp included various cultural and artistic activities such as music group festivals, hot trend dance competitions, and recycled fashion contests.

According to Mr Nguyan Thanh Phong, Secretary of the Hai Chau District Youth Union, activities are regularly refreshed in terms of content and format to create appeal, meet youth preferences, and promote creativity. Simultaneously, the district maintains regular, well-liked activities that have become the trademark of the local youth movement. Cultural and artistic activities are prioritised along the Han River, Bach Dang pedestrian street, and APEC Park to help promote the city as a vibrant, youthful destination, attracting both domestic and international tourists.

For many years, the Da Nang Children’s Cultural Palace under the Da Nang Youth Union has become a familiar destination and an ideal cultural, artistic, and sports playground for children, especially during the summer.

Mr Nguyen Nhan, Director of the Da Nang Children's Cultural Palace, shared that the 2024 summer activity series at the venue lasted over 11 weeks, attracting nearly 2,000 children. During this time, the palace organised various cultural and artistic activities such as the "Shining Young Talents" competition, drawing contests, the "Green Music Notes" festival, and artistic exchange programmes.

"Organising activities and providing an environment where children can 'play' with art is essential, helping them develop both physically and mentally. Moreover, through these activities, we can discover young artistic talents and timely nurture, train, and develop them further," Mr Nhan emphasised.

According to Mr Nguyen Duy Thanh, Head of the Movement Committee of the municipal Youth Union, cultural and artistic activities for the youth are regularly organised by Youth Union organisations at all levels, with a focus on the period from March to September each year.

This year, the municipal Youth Union organised the "Youth Art Playground" programme every Friday evening on the western end of the Dragon Bridge, with a total of 28 events. Depending on the theme of each event, young people participated in various exciting outdoor activities such as street music group exchanges, "The Flashmob Showdown 2024" competition, " and group dancing and singing performances by clubs and groups.

In addition, the Youth Union also organised various arts competitions, revolutionary song contests, and incorporated artistic performances into festivals, commemorative events, and local camps. These efforts aim to meet the entertainment needs and preferences of the youth, creating a healthy playground that helps reduce and prevent social evils, while fostering positive lifestyles among young people and the community at large.
