Da Nang invites experts, scientists to join hands for future development

Da Nang Party Committee Secretary Nguyen Van Quang asked for help from the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) to realise the city's development goals during his reception for the group on Monday.

Secretary Quang shared that Da Nang has been trying to innovate its growth model, promote new driving forces, and restructure economic sectors and fields.

He informed that the Politburo’s Conclusion No. 79-KL/TW on continuing to implement its Resolution No. 43-NQ/TW dated January 24, 2019 on building and developing Da Nang by 2030, with a vision towards 2045; and the National Assembly-passed Resolution No. 136/2024/QH15 dated June 26, 2024 on urban administration organisation and the piloting of a number of specific mechanisms and policies to develop Da Nang; are important political and legal foundations for the city to develop rapidly in the coming time.

The city will pilot the implementation of specific unprecedented mechanisms and policies such as the establishment of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone which is expected to include a production, trade - service and logistics areas and other types of areas; and the development of semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries, information and communication, science and technology management, and innovation.

Mr. Quang highly appreciated overseas experts and intellectuals as well as AVSE Global for their cooperation interest with the city. He took the opportunity to ask for support from AVSE Global to help the city set up a free trade zone as well as share experience in operation and management of free economic zones in the world.

He hoped that AVSE Global will support Da Nang in enhancing capacity, discussing the development of semiconductor industry, building an international financial centre, forming a creative startup ecosystem, and promoting tourism and green economic development.

With great political determination, municipal Party chief Quang expressed his wish to attract many talented people to join efforts with the city to make Da Nang increasingly develop and affirm its brand in the world.

The city leaders are committed to creating the best environment to attract talents, scientists, experts, and investors to live and work.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong, President of AVSE Global, thanked the city leaders for the respectful welcome, expressing his impression on the city’s rapid growth. He expressed his belief that Da Nang boasted great potential to become a smart city in the future.

He said that the purpose of the visit made by the group was to learn about the city's ongoing strategies and projects calling for investment; its FDI attraction strategy; and its development orientation for high-end tourism combined with ports, creative cultural industries, innovation ecosystems.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Khuong and members of the delegation expressed their desire to contribute to the country in general and Da Nang in particular to implement programmes with positive impacts. They pledge to provide consulting reports on talent attraction, university autonomy, digital transformation, national branding, and carbon markets for a sustainable and prosperous future for Viet Nam.

During his meeting with the AVSE Global delegation on the same day, municipal People’s Committee Chairman Le Trung Chinh expressed his appreciation for the feelings of AVSE Global scientists and experts for Da Nang.

Chairman Chinh affirmed that this meeting was the first step and would open up more working sessions for city leaders to coordinate overseas scientists and experts in order to discuss specific issues in the construction and development of Da Nang.

Mr. Chinh affirmed that the city's leaders sincerely invited investors, researchers, experts and scientists who are Vietnamese expatriates around the world to join hands to promote the local progress.
