Enhancing solidarity and engagement among the youth
Determining that the youth are the pillars of the nation and the future of the country, as well as a vital force in building and defending the Fatherland, the Da Nang Youth Union has implemented various practical solutions to enhance the work of uniting and mobilising young people, contributing to developing a truly proactive and strong youth generation in the city.

Opportunities for youth development
In recent years, to expand the front of youth solidarity and engagement, the municipal Youth Union has continued to widely implement three revolutionary action movements namely “Volunteer Youth”, “Creative Youth”, and “The Youth Taking the Lead in National Defence.”
Every year, through the “Volunteer Youth” movement, the municipal Youth Union and its 22 affiliated units carry out numerous practical projects and tasks that are suitable to the characteristics of each unit.
In 2023, youth union members joined forces to complete significant projects, such as 14 children’s playgrounds, and 85 youth loudspeakers at heritage sites. Also, heed was on “digitising” 86 historical sites across the city; and establishing 7 book libraries with a total funding of VND 5.6 billion. Additionally, the affiliated units undertook 286 youth projects and 3,457 youth tasks, attracting 106,735 young people to participate.
In the first six months of 2024, youth union members organised 46 municipal-level activities, over 250 district-level activities, and more than 1,156 grassroots activities, drawing over 137,000 youth participants, with total resources mobilised exceeding VND 6.02 billion.
Volunteer activities aimed at building new-style rural areas and civilised urban areas saw enthusiastic participation from youth members. Consequently, numerous projects were completed, including installing street lighting and water pipeline systems in rural areas; providing labour support and funding for housing construction and repairs for impoverished households and those with revolutionary merits; upgrading sanitation facilities at schools; developing safe and civilised streets; and conducting “Green Sundays” to remove illegal advertisements and enhance historical monuments.
Notably, through peak social welfare volunteer campaigns such as “Loving Spring”, “Green Sticky Rice Cake - Peaceful Tet”, and “Free Medical Check-ups and Consultations”, which are held annually, youth members provide livelihoods, scholarships, and financial support to help poor families and those in need achieve stable lives and restore and develop their economies.
Through the annual “Summer Volunteer Youth” campaign, the youth citywide participate in supporting examination seasons and engage in various campaigns such as “Green Summer”, “Red Flamboyant”, “Pink Holiday”, and “Green March”, which bring practical benefits to the community and contribute to economic and social development. In executing the “Creative Youth” movement, young people have proposed numerous high-application ideas and models, contributing to the application of information technology and scientific advancements in labour, production, and business, serving the community.
Nguyen Thi Anh Thao, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, asserted that through revolutionary action movements, youth members have the opportunity and conditions to express their proactive spirit, enthusiasm, and initiative; to develop their will, health, and intellect, thus affirming their identities.

Supporting youth in career development
To cultivate a generation of youth who are strong in character and skilled in their professions, the municipal Youth Union annually implements numerous activities to accompany youth in their studies, encourage activities that promote information technology application, enhance scientific research, and improve professional skills and foreign language proficiency for youth members.
Many successful competitions have been held, yielding positive effects, such as the municipal-level Young Informatics competition, the civil servant informatics competition, the “Student Chie-Tech” intelligent technology competition for students, and the “Robot Creativity Festival” themed “Protecting Da Nang Citadel”, as well as the “Da Nang English Olympics” for the 2022-2023 school year.
At the same time, the Youth Union has committed to “Supporting foreign language education for 10,000 underprivileged children in the city during the 2023-2028 period.” The scholarship and talent promotion funds continue to effectively support youth in studying and conducting scientific research, providing opportunities for students to develop comprehensively.
Additionally, local youth organisations have organised many activities to equip members and youth with practical social skills; maintaining and establishing numerous skill clubs, teams, and groups; enhancing sex education activities for adolescents, reproductive health consultations, love, marriage, and family guidance for youth; and organising various cultural, artistic, and sports activities to create a healthy recreational environment for young people. This approach helps youth develop skills for life, enhancing their physical health and cultural well-being.
To facilitate economic development for youth, many initiatives supporting young people in entrepreneurship and career establishment have been effectively implemented. Youth organisations promote awareness of creativity and entrepreneurship; facilitate dialogues with businesses and entrepreneurs; and disseminate policies regarding entrepreneurship and career establishment to youth members, students.
Moreover, training sessions, workshops, and knowledge enhancement about entrepreneurship are organised; policy recommendations for youth entrepreneurship are made; and the application of scientific and technological advancements, as well as information technology, in entrepreneurship is encouraged; job fairs are coordinated; and career orientation, job-seeking skills, and employment introduction services for youth are provided.
In 2023, youth organisations organised 105 career guidance activities for 52,013 youth members; 41 job introduction activities were conducted, helping 4,310 youth secure employment. Notably, efforts to provide career guidance and employment solutions for the disadvantaged youth contribute to economic development and ensure the city's social welfare.
