Young people act for the community

Over the past years, the Youth Union organisation of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang has been carrying out many meaningful initiatives and projects, contributing to promoting the development of the local youth movement, ensuring social security, and building urban culture and civilisation.

Huynh Vo Ha Le, Secretary of the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward-based Youth Union organisation, said that the Youth Union has the smallest number of members in Lien Chieu District. Currently, it has 25 affiliated organisations, including 17 in residential areas, 4 in schools, 2 in armed forces, 1 in a private kindergarten, 1 in a Golden Lotus Kindergarten with a total of 137 members.

The Youth Union organisation of the ward faces some difficulties in mobilizing young people to participate in youth activities or movements in the locality because most of the Youth Union members and youth are students or young people working far away. However, the unit has made efforts to overcome this challenging to effectively implement Youth Union activities.

“The Executive Board of the ward’s Youth Union organisation has established a chat group on social networks to promptly deploy movements and activities to its members and young people, as well as promote propaganda to raise awareness of the role of Youth Union members and young people in building civilised urban areas or organise social activities towards the community”, Ha Le added.

Thanks to that, over the past time, the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward-based Youth Union organisation has organised many exciting youth activities. In particular, five campaigns have been launched to remove illegal advertising with the participation of 200 young people. Also, young people have actively got involved in guiding local residents to install VNeID, VssID apps.

Additionally, a volunteer team pioneering in community digital transformation has been set up with dozens of young people. Team members are tasked with supporting and guiding people to install digital transformation applications, and use online public services.

The Youth Union organisation has presented gifts, totalling VND 50 million, to poor and near-poor households in difficult circumstances, as well as organised summer activities, Action Month for Children, and the "Mid-Autumn Festival for children" programme with a total value of nearly VND45 million.

In order to help pupils from poor, near-poor and disadvantaged households continue their study path, the Youth Union organisation of the ward has given 20 gifts, totalling VND10 million; 3 desks, worth VND3 million in total; and 4 bicycles, valued at VND4 million in total, to needy pupils.

To help pupils grasp basic knowledge about the country’s sovereignty over its sea and islands and arouse love for their homeland, the Youth Union organisation has coordinated with the Hai Van Border Guard Station to propagate the Law on Border Guard, and the national sovereignty over its borders, and sea and islands to nearly 1,000 pupils at local schools.

The unit has worked with the ward-based Department of public Security to educate pupils and the youth about the harmful effects of drugs and social evils.

Every year, the Youth Union organisation in coordination with the ward-based War Veterans’ Association has organised talks about the traditions of previous generations to raise awareness and educate the younger generation about revolutionary heroism.

Other meaningful activities have been held across the locality, such as cleaning up martyrs' cemeteries, visiting and giving gifts to families with meritorious services, and launching dozens of voluntary blood donation campaigns.

Bui Thanh Minh, a Youth Union member who often participates in voluntary blood donation campaign, shared that participating in social activities launched by the Ward-based Youth Union organisation has helped him build a positive mindset and lifestyle.

Furthermore, propaganda and education work for Youth Union members and youths is also carried out continuously with many diverse forms.

“In the coming time, the Youth Union organisation of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward will continue to roll out solutions to improve the quality of Youth Union activities at the grassroots level. In particular, the focus will be on building a dynamic, creative youth force, contributing to building a generation of youth who live with ambition and responsibility towards the community”, Ms. Ha Le added.
