Always setting an example in lifestyle and dedicated to youth work and community benefits are the remarks of local Youth Union members when speaking about Mr. Phan Tran Hai Giang, Secretary of the Youth Union organisation in Thanh Khe District’s An Khe Ward.

With his dynamic, passionate, and creative youth spirit, Giang continuously learns and seeks solutions to enhance the quality and effectiveness of Youth Union activities.

He actively advises local authorities on programmes, plans, and movements of the local Youth Union organisation, making significant contributions to the urban civilisation programme and acting as a bridge between the Party Committee and local youth members.

Giang shared that there are about 3,000 members in the ward, organised into 32 local Youth Union organisations, including 22 ones in residential areas, 5 in schools, 2 in military units, and 3 in private units. However, over 40% of them often study or work far away, making it challenging to gather youth members.

"As the Secretary of the Youth Union organisation, to attract a large number of members to participate in practical projects for building our homeland, I have established a chat group on social media to inform and activities and campaigns. Together with the Executive Board of the ward-based Youth Union organisation, we promote awareness of the role of youth union members in building urban civilisation and organising community-oriented social activities through meetings, volunteer programmes, and clean-up weekends" Giang added.

To contribute to ensuring social welfare for vulnerable groups, Giang and members of the Executive Board frequently organise social activities to raise funds for the needy.

Every year, the An Khe-based Youth Union organisation provides dozens of gifts, totaling tens of millions of VND, for poor and studious children, and needy families. Additionally, four savings books, valued at VND 1 million each, are presented to 4 social policy families in difficult circumstances, whilst 600 free meals are given to patients and their relatives at the Da Nang Oncology Hospital.

Implementing the model "Helping Students Go to School", the Youth Union organisation offers 20 gifts, worth VND 20 million in total, to poor pupils in a bid to help them continue their studies and strive to become good students and citizens.

Moreover, Giang and local youth union members have mobilised donors to provide 135 cash gifts to residents suffering from serious illnesses, totalling nearly VND 180 million. They have organised a "Zero-VND Market" to distribute 190 gifts totalling VND 57 million to poor families and those facing special difficulties in the area, and donated VND 20 million to a patient suffering from multi-neuritis.

To enhance the environment and provide shade for pupils at the Nguyen Dinh Chieu Senior High School, the Youth Union organisation planted 50 trees, valued at VND 5 million in total. 212 youth union members removed over 5,320 improperly placed banners and advertisements in the ward.

The activities of the An Khe-based Youth Union organisation led by Mr Giang have provided meaningful contributions, helping to instill a sense of social responsibility among the youth in the community.
