Scholarships given to 67 poor studious students

The Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang held a ceremony on Tuesday to present scholarships, totalling VND 335 million, to 67 children of poor families who have overcome difficulties to gain outstanding academic results. The total amount of the scholarships was funded by the city's "For the Poor" Fund.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Tran Thi Man highlighted the humanity of the programme "Supporting scholarships for students from poor households who have overcome difficulties and studied well", contributing to the effective implementation of the city's social security policy.

Through the programme, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city and its chapters at all levels has helped poor households reduce the burden of paying tuition fees for their children at universities, and the recipients have more confidence to continue on the path of study and become useful citizens for society.

Since 2019, the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city has awarded scholarships to 341 students with a total amount of more than VND1.7 billion.

In particular, 31 students were supported for 4 consecutive years, 61 students for 3 consecutive years, 207 students for 2 consecutive years and 42 students for the first year, with a support level of VND 5 million each per academic year.
