Pilot model for digital street
Kinh Duong Vuong Street, from the intersection of Nguyen Sinh Sac to Tran Dinh Tri, has been selected by the People's Committee of Hoa Minh Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang to pilot the digital street model. This initiative aims to assist local residents in accessing online public services and promoting the use of digital technology in building community life.
One key criterion for establishing a digital street is that 100% of businesses, including retail, trade, and service providers, implement QR code-based payment methods.
Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong, a business owner on Kinh Duong Vuong Street, shared that using bank transfers for payments allows transactions to be quick and accurate.
In addition to promoting digital payments, the digital street model encourages business owners to register and use online public services, such as tax filing, business registration, and other administrative paperwork. This helps reduce waiting times and enhances transparency in the handling of procedures.
Furthermore, the widespread use of digital technology by residents also helps local authorities manage and monitor business activities in the locality more efficiently.
Mr. Dinh Huu Phuc, Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Minh Ward, noted that the digital street is part of a plan to drive digital transformation in residential areas, offering potential for economic growth and improving service quality through technological conveniences. Recently, shops and business households along the street have been encouraged to register QR codes and update their business information on online platforms.
According to Mr. Phuc, the locality hopes that this model will motivate residents, particularly business owners, to embrace digital technology and modern payment methods, thereby changing consumption and transaction habits within the community.
“We aim for this model not only to apply technology in payments but also to serve as a foundation for developing other services, such as product promotion and reaching new customers online. This is also a crucial step in the local digital transformation journey, towards building a digital society and digital citizens,” he said.
To support residents, the Youth Union organisation of the ward has partnered with community digital technology teams to install and guide the use of QR codes, electronic payments, and steps for accessing online public services. Additionally, authorities have organised campaigns to raise public awareness about cybersecurity and the importance of protecting personal information during online transactions.
Mr. Vo Thanh Van, Party Secretary of Hoa Phu 6, said that residents living in Residential Areas No.2, 4, 7, 8, and 9 along Kinh Duong Vuong Street largely meet the information technology criteria. The locality has also installed QR codes at several intersections to help locals and tourists easily access information about the digital street.
"To ensure security, along with financial support from the local government, residents in these neighbourhoods have installed an additional 20 security cameras along the street," Mr. Van added.
The Kinh Duong Vuong digital street is expected to become a pioneering model in the digital transformation process in Hoa Minh Ward and Lien Chieu District. According to the plan, after evaluating the effectiveness of the pilot model, the ward will expand the digital street to other areas.
