For many years, at the start of the new academic year, universities and colleges across Da Nang have frequently honoured and awarded scholarships to outstanding students. These scholarships, often funded by organisations and sponsors, have supported students facing financial difficulties, helping them continue their educational journey.

At the opening ceremony for the 2024-2025 academic year, the University of Science and Technology - the University of Da Nang, commended and awarded scholarships worth nearly VND 500 million to 38 new students. These students included top scorers, those who won national academic competitions and gained direct admission, and top candidates of training programmes according to the 2024 admissions scheme. In the past five years, 700 students have received scholarships worth nearly VND 4 billion from businesses and alumni. Each year, the university allocates around VND 22 billion in academic encouragement scholarships for approximately 1,700 students.

For the new academic year, the University of Foreign Language Studies - the University of Da Nang, received VND 780 million in donations, awarded VND 40 million to top incoming students, and granted first-semester talent scholarships to seven of the highest-scoring new students. In the 2023-2024 academic year, the university awarded VND 1.7 billion in scholarships to students. The University of Economics - the University of Da Nang, allocated over VND 900 million for its talent scholarship programme and awarded VND 75 million to top new students. In 2024, businesses sponsored over VND 1.4 billion in scholarships for students.

The Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Da Nang awarded VND 335 million in scholarships in 2024 to 67 students from disadvantaged households who achieved good academic results. Since 2019, the Committee has awarded scholarships, amounting to over VND 1.7 billion, to 341 students.

In September, 100 new students from Quang Nam and Da Nang were awarded scholarships from the “Giving strength to school” fund, totalling VND 1.5 billion. The Quang Nam - Da Nang “Giving strength to school” Club, founded in 2005 through Tuoi Tre newspaper, has now supported new students for 20 years, granting 2,352 scholarships worth VND 24.5 billion. Since its inception in 2003, the Tuoi Tre newspaper’s “Giving strength to school” programme has awarded scholarships to 24,597 disadvantaged new students at a total cost of over VND 219 billion.

The scholarship programmes, organised during the academic year’s opening ceremonies by schools, organisations, businesses, and philanthropists, provide both financial aid and encouragement, motivating students to strive further in their studies and future careers.
