Mr. Dong The Hung, the Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Education, shared that UED Media is responsible for communicating to build the school’s youth brand, while promoting and spreading a beautiful image. This is one of the changes of the school’s Youth Union, pioneering and innovative characteristics in content and implementation form to perfect and build a new model in communication work.
As the person who directly came up with the idea and connected students with a passion for media and journalism to create UED Media, Mr. Hung said: “From 2023, UED Media has built a new team of staff with the core being students from the 2022 and 2023 enrollments. Currently, the team has many young, experienced, dynamic and creative members. In particular, there are students who are working as collaborators for news agencies across Da Nang”.
Having joined UED Media for a full year, student Nguyen Doan Gia Han, 20, majoring in Journalism shared: “In addition to class time, I get to practice my media and journalism skills with UED Media. Here, I am like an “intern” for my major. It is also an opportunity for members to demonstrate their abilities and contribute their youth to the activities of the University of Education”.
Studying in the same major as Gia Han, Nguyen Xuan Thanh Dat, 20, considers his time at UED Media as a valuable experience. With the dream of becoming a versatile reporter, Dat learned from his seniors and friends at UED Media many rich skills such as writing news, taking photos, filming and is currently receiving additional training in film editing.
From the initial confusion, Dat gradually became confident in working at events and was considered one of the most skilled cameramen. The advantage for students like Han and Dat when joining UED Media is that the school invests in equipment, computer rooms, creates favourable conditions for working at events, along with kind support from their lecturers.
In addition to the main activities of communication and organising events of the Youth Union and Student Association, UED Media also supports communication for units in the school, organises training and guides communication work for students.
Most recently, UED Media participated in many activities such as ‘15 DAYS Campaign, Challenge yourself - Spread the message’ on the occasion of Youth Month 2024; the programme to welcome new students called ‘Continue writing dreams’; the photo series ‘Students of the University of Education build a model of youth in the new era’. In addition, the unit has developed the school's image on social networking platforms, the volunteer campaign ‘Green Summer’ in 2024, and participated in building a reading culture in schools and the community...
“In the near future, UED Media members will have more opportunities to learn and improve from experienced reporters, MCs... to improve their skills. What we aim for is not only to train and equip students with communication and journalism skills, but also soft skills related to operations, behaviour, community connection and event organisation...
In parallel with promoting working at school events, this creates a good foundation and luggage for students to be confident in their work after graduation", said Mr. Dong The Hung, the Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union organisation of the University of Education.
