The National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality under the Vietnamese Ministry of Science and Technology, in collaboration with the Australian National Standardization Agency, recently organised a workshop on emerging key technologies in Southeast Asia, aiming to support the integration of international standards in the field of technical technology for economic and social development.

The workshop focused on discussing and providing information on new and effective technologies when applying artificial intelligence (AI) in production, business operations; warning of risks of AI abuse and affirming that humans are still the subject of developing and controlling technology.

According to the National Committee for Standards, Metrology and Quality, Da Nang has many advantages in terms of location, internal strengths, including a large number of enterprises to develop the AI field to promote economic and social development. Some Da Nang enterprises have successfully applied AI to optimise production lines and human resources, but still lack mechanisms and support from management agencies to develop faster and stronger.

In fact, Viet Nam has only issued 8 measurement standards related to the AI field. Meanwhile, internationally, there are more than 30 measurement standards and 30 new ones will be issued soon. In the near future, the Ministry of Science and Technology will synthesize and add 17 new measurement standards to support units and enterprises in managing and operating AI more conveniently.
