The purpose of the campaign is to promote awareness and behaviour of drivers nationwide in controlling vehicle speed according to regulations when participating in traffic.

Approximately 1.19 million people die each year as a result of road traffic crashes around the world.

Speeding is the leading cause of collisions, especially for children who are vulnerable due to their limited height.

This communication campaign is developed and implemented by the National Traffic Safety Committee and the Traffic Safety Committees of Da Nang, Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City under the support of the Vital Strategies and the World Health Organisation.

In Da Nang, during the implementation of road safety communication campaigns since 2023, Vital Strategies has received the attention and effective coordination of the Department of Transport, the city’s Traffic Safety Committee and the traffic police force.

The images and messages of the campaign have always been implemented in a very synchronous and effective manner by Da Nang. Da Nang's images in the campaign implementation are always chosen by Vital Strategies to use in reports in many places as an example of implementation in Viet Nam.

Mr. Le Tang, Deputy Chief of Office of the Da Nang Traffic Safety Committee, informed that in recent years, Viet Nam has recorded a decrease in the number of traffic accidents, fatalities and the injured. However, the consequences of traffic accidents affect the achievements of economic growth and damage the image of a safe and friendly country in the eyes of friends and partners.

Mr. Tang said that the campaign’s communication material is a video spot called “Let’s Drive Slow for Children’s Future” which is broadcast on national television from November 18 - December 15, 2024 and was widely promoted on mass media by provinces and cities across the country.
