The Da Nang Council recently issued a resolution approving the investment in the construction, upgrade, and refurbishment of Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital, with a total budget exceeding VND 87.5 billion, scheduled for implementation from 2024 to 2026. The project includes building a new acute treatment ward for both men and women, with a capacity of 140 beds, featuring two floors and a mezzanine, covering an area of approximately 2,597 square meters. Additionally, a new corridor will connect the acute treatment wards for men and women with specialised treatment and rehabilitation wards, the nutrition block, and imaging facilities, comprising a single-story structure. The project will also add equipment to ensure the hospital can continue to deliver effective healthcare services aligned with its long-term development strategy.
Dr Tran Nguyen Ngoc, Director of the Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital, expressed that the investment in construction, upgrades, and refurbishment will create favourable conditions for both patients’ treatment and the healthcare staff’s working environment, thereby enhancing the quality of patient care. “Our entire medical team is thrilled with the city’s decision. The hospital will gain a fresh, well-equipped appearance, meeting patient care and treatment needs to the fullest extent. We hope to celebrate Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital’s 50th anniversary in 2027 in a new, modern setting” Dr Ngoc commented.
In addition to the improvements at Da Nang Psychiatric Hospital, the Da Nang Council has also endorsed a plan to expand and integrate technical infrastructure and auxiliary facilities at Da Nang Hospital, with a budget cap of VND 154.1 billion, set for completion between 2024 and 2027. This project includes the construction of a new three-story technical and auxiliary facility; an additional corridor on the second floor outside the Cardiovascular Centre to connect the existing two-story link with the main stairway lobby of the Cardiovascular Centre; and the construction of new boundary walls, gates, and security posts. This will help to create an improved architectural layout and landscape, establishing a better environment for healthcare, treatment, and recuperation for patients.
Ms. Tran Thi Bich, who cares for a family member at the Da Nang Hospital, shared that the investment in expanding and integrating technical infrastructure and auxiliary facilities at Da Nang Hospital is significant for both healthcare staff and patients, enhancing amenities and providing an optimal environment for patient treatment.
According to Dr. Le Duc Nhan, Director of the Da Nang Hospital, this investment addresses a long-standing wish of healthcare staff and patients, especially for those receiving inpatient treatment. “The number of inpatients at Da Nang Hospital is currently high, but the space remains somewhat constrained. Once the project is completed, it will create a better environment for patient treatment and care,” he explained.
“The Cardiovascular Centre is a key unit of the hospital. Arranging facilities to provide seamless access across technical departments will not only support patients in different wards but also streamline hospital operations. Additionally, it will improve interaction and facilitate the delivery of specialised services between departments and the Cardiovascular Centre. A well-ventilated, pleasant environment will help patients feel more comfortable and relaxed, aiding in their recovery. Furthermore, ensuring proper air circulation will reduce hospital-borne infections and limit respiratory disease transmission,” Dr. Nhan shared.
