Co-organised by the National Traffic Safety Committee, the Ministry of Education and Training and Honda Vietnam, the launching ceremony was attended by Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee Le Kim Thanh.

Also at the event, Honda Vietnam provided traffic safety knowledge and skills for pupils and parents in the region.

Honda Vietnam plans to donate more than 1.7 million helmets to first graders of schools nationwide during the 2024-2025 school year. The purpose is to join hands with the central government to realise the country’s goal of reducing the number of fatalities caused by road traffic accidents to zero by 2045, as well as Honda's global goal of reducing the number of fatalities caused by traffic collisions by half by 2030 and cutting death numbers caused by traffic collisions involving Honda motorbikes and cars to zero by 2050.

The humane and meaningful programme aims to raise the awareness and observance of rules on wearing helmets when riding motorbikes and electric bicycles among the public in general and children in particular, especially first graders - an important age for forming cognitive thinking, thereby creating a habit for them to always wear a standard helmet when sitting behind a motorbike.

This practical activity is a continuation of the programme "Giving helmets to first graders" jointly implemented nationwide by Honda Vietnam Company, the National Traffic Safety Committee, and the Ministry of Education and Training since 2018. Up to now, the total number of helmets donated by Honda Vietnam has been 10.3 million.
