Outstanding farmer
Among the 63 farmers awarded the title of "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer" in 2024 by the Viet Nam Farmers' Association, Mr. Nguyen Kim Khanh, born in 1962, Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District, is the only representative from Da Nang to receive this title. Not only has he worked tirelessly to improve the local economy and overcome poverty, but he has also distinguished himself in the national movement for public security.

Mr. Khanh resides in Tung Son Hamlet, Hoa Son Commune, which has over 180 households, mostly Catholic families. As the Head of the Parish Ministry of Tung Son, he plays a crucial role in uniting the Catholic community to effectively carry out the "Seven Good Lives, Three Beautiful Religions" movement launched by the Viet Nam Committee for Catholic Solidarity. The model "Exemplary Catholic Farming Families Participating in Public Security and Traffic Safety" was initiated and managed by him since 2021, contributing to the dissemination of the Party’s policies and state laws among the Catholic community.
Since the model’s implementation, he has coordinated with the local Farmers' Association to organise numerous legal awareness sessions for residents. He encouraged 120 households to sign commitments to maintain public order. Residents directly provided over 30 valuable pieces of information to authorities, assisting the police in resolving several cases of violence, intentional harm, domestic abuse, and in capturing a suspect involved in illegal drug trade.
Tung Son Hamlet borders the Hoa Lien - Tuy Loan expressway project, making it crucial to convince local residents to hand over land for the project’s construction. Recently, Mr. Khanh, along with various associations, has engaged in discussions with over 15 households, helping them agree to transfer land. In addition, he personally handed over over 800m² of land to facilitate the smooth execution of the project. There are also several vacant lots in the area where residents have dumped waste and debris, causing environmental pollution. Mr. Khanh consistently educates the community, raises awareness about waste management, and regularly leads monthly clean-up efforts on roads and vacant land to maintain a beautiful, clean environment.
Furthermore, Mr. Khanh is a prominent member of the local Farmers' Association, successful with his agriculture model of growing green skin pomelo and raising black snails. His pomelo garden, with more than 50 trees, has been well-cared-for and provides an income of over VND 50 million per season, while his snail farming business generates nearly VND 10 million per month. For his contributions to the community, Mr. Khanh was awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of Da Nang for his outstanding achievements in the movement to build new rural areas.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hai, Chairman of the Hoa Son Farmers' Association, said that Mr. Nguyen Kim Khanh is an exemplary figure in the local agricultural production and business movement, and is deeply involved in the Association's activities. The model "Exemplary Catholic Farming Families Participating in Public Security and Traffic Safety," which he has led for three years, has successfully mobilized the Catholic community to engage in the "Seven Good Lives, Three Beautiful Religions" movement, contributing to the construction of a new rural area and maintaining social order and security in the region.
