Inspiring passion in students
The “Outstanding Young Teacher” award organised annually by the Central Youth Union on the occasion of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (20 November), honours educators who excel in teaching, scientific research, and social contributions while living as exemplary role models for their students. In 2024, Da Nang proudly celebrates two awardees.
Dr Tran Xuan Quynh is renowned for his enthusiasm, responsibility, and dynamism in youth activities, motivating union members to actively participate in community service. During the 2023–2024 academic year, he spearheaded several volunteer programmes, including monthly "Green Sundays" at local institutions, beaches, and residential areas; winter and spring volunteer campaigns; and cultural events organised by student clubs.
Since 2022, he has introduced two notable initiatives, including utilising Google Maps to identify local vendors and developing case studies for teaching and research through direct interviews with businesses in the "Sales Force Management" course. These efforts provide hands-on learning experiences for students in commerce, enhancing cost-efficiency and practical skills. Dr Quynh has also published numerous scientific papers in prestigious journals both domestically and internationally.
"Scientific research is an opportunity to update knowledge and improve oneself," Dr Quynh shared. "I constantly remind myself to excel in teaching, imparting not only knowledge but also passion and dedication to students."
Continuous innovation
Dr Bui Van Hung is a standout in academic excellence and youth activities. He consistently strives to excel in all assigned tasks. Notably, during the 2023–2024 academic year, he supervised two student research groups, with one winning first prize and the other second prize at the university’s student research conference. Additionally, he has contributed to two ministerial-level research projects and authored numerous articles in reputable academic journals nationwide.
Furthermore, he collaborated on a study regarding "Solid Hydrogen Storage Technology in Smart Cities," integrating technology into teaching by using simulation software to make technical concepts more engaging and accessible for students.
Over the past year, he has organised numerous volunteer programmes and events, focusing on developing students' soft skills, particularly teamwork, creative thinking, and problem-solving. He also supported entrepreneurship, equipping students with essential skills and knowledge while still in university. These programmes effectively combine theory with practice, ensuring students are well-prepared for future professional challenges.
Expressing his joy at being one of Da Nang's two award recipients, Dr Hung stated: "This award motivates me to continue striving for self-improvement and inspiring students while affirming my commitment to the educational path I've chosen. In the future, I will focus on enhancing teaching quality, advancing scientific research, and innovating pedagogical methods to better meet students' needs in the modern education landscape."
