Over 800 residents evacuated as heavy rain causes flooding in Da Nang

By 2:00 pm on Tuesday, after many hours of reduced rain, the water had receded from all flooded areas in residential areas and inner-city streets. However, the alley No.161 on Me Suot Street is still submerged under 25cm of water, Le Van Luong Street is still being flooded due to the overflow of Da Stream, and some sections of roads and low-lying areas of Hoa Vang District are still being inundated.

According to a report released by the Da Nang Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defence, flooding was heaviest on Me Suot Street with water levels reaching up to 1m. A total of 835 people in low-lying and flooded areas were evacuated to safe shelters.

Meteorologists predict that moderate to heavy rain continues battering the central coastal city in the afternoon of the same day.

The municipal Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defence requests departments, branches, People's Committees of districts and relevant units to closely monitor disaster forecasts and warnings, as well as be ready to deploy disaster prevention and control plans.

The People's Committees of districts are asked to continue to proactively evacuate people in areas at risk of deep flooding, flash floods, and landslides, as well as coordinate with relevant units to prepare forces, means, equipment, and essential supplies in order to respond to natural disasters.

The municipal Border Guard Command, the People's Committees of coastal districts, the Da Nang Coastal Information Station and relevant units promptly notify owners of vehicles and boats still operating at sea of ​​information about cold spell to proactively avoid.

Department, localities and units are urged to closely monitor natural disaster bulletins to proactively handle unexpected situations.
