Most of businesses, production facilities, and service providers across the city are accelerating their operations to meet the increasing demands of people in the year-end shopping season as there are just two months left until the Lunar New Year (Tet) - the biggest festival in a year of Vietnamese people. In addition to the existing labour force, many have been busy recruiting part-time workers and interns with attractive salaries to meet production and business activities.

Due to the need to expand the facility making the ‘nem chua’ (fermented pork) and ‘cha bo’ (beef paste) to serve the year-end market, in early November 2024, the Phuoc Ha facility located in Thanh Khe District recruited 5 more workers. Accordingly, workers work from 3:00 am to 11:00 am, with a minimum wage of VND7 million/month, a food allowance and a bonus for diligence.

Similarly, to prepare for the production of goods in the year-end shopping season, the Ba Lieu Me 'banh kho me' (dried sesame seed cakes) facility plans to recruit 35 more seasonal employees who will work 8 hours per day with a salary of VND 6 million per month.

Mr. Huynh Duc Sol, the owner of the facility, said that 15 employees are producing about 1,000-1,500 boxes of dried sesame seed cakes each day. In the next 15 days, the facility will start to produce Tet goods, an increase of about 15% of goods compared to the present, so it is necessary to recruit more seasonal workers, he added.

At the end of the year, delivery units, and suppliers of goods and products, also speed up labour recruitment.

The Da Nang branch of the J&T Express is recruiting 50 employees to load and sort goods with a salary of VND 7-12 million/month depending on the position.

Having just passed the recruitment for the position of goods sorter, Huynh Ngoc Nam, a student at the University of Science and Technology - the University of Da Nang, said that the company is in urgent need of labourers, so he was accepted to work after only 3 days of submitting his application.

Taking advantage of his free time, he works as a seasonal employee at a wedding restaurant every Saturday and Sunday and as a goods sorter from 7:00 pm to 3:00 am the next morning with a salary of VND8 million per month in order to earn extra income for covering living and studying expenses.

Not only production and trading establishments, tourism firms and service providers citywide also recruit seasonal workers and interns to serve the year-end festival season.

Specifically, the Ba Na Hills Golf Club is recruiting for such positions as public sanitation staff, technical staff, restaurant interns, and communications and marketing interns with attractive income levels depending on ability.

Meanwhile, many hotels and resorts in Son Tra and Ngu Hanh Son districts are increasing the recruitment of seasonal staff and interns for reception, housekeeping, kitchen, and cleaning positions to prepare human resources for the year-end holiday season and Lunar New Year 2025.

For instance, the Chicland Hotel in Son Tra District is recruiting interns for the kitchen and reception areas with a subsidy of VND 1 million/month, and a meal allowance of VND25,000/day.

Tran Thi Thanh Ha, a student majoring in reception at the Da Nang Vocational Tourism College, said that she has just applied for the position of reception intern at a 4-star hotel in Ngu Hanh Son District. According to Ha, becoming an intern at restaurants and hotels not only helps students earn income but also accumulate experience and expand relationships to serve their work after graduation.

According to a representative of the Da Nang Employment Service Centre, businesses and production facilities across the city now make recruitment through social networks and websites. In cases where units and businesses send information on recruiting seasonal workers, the centre posts it fully and promptly on its information channels; updates information during regular job fairs; and sends recruitment information directly to the facility through local labour and employment officers, helping workers access and find suitable jobs.
