Spreading stories about Da Nang heritage

To celebrate the anniversary of Viet Nam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23), the Museum of Da Nang has just organised the programme ‘Da Nang Cultural Heritage Festival 2024’.

The festival impressed locals and tourists with many unique cultural activities such as a photo exhibition, the drawing of sketches of time-honoured villages and streets across Da Nang, the city's typical architectural model competition, an antique fair, traditional musical instrument performances, folk games and experiential activities.

In addition to the main exhibitions, the festival also featured the display of a number of unique handmade models of Da Nang prominent architectural works such as the Nguyen Van Troi, Han Rive, Dragon and Tran Thi Ly bridges, the Hai Van Gate, the Da Nang Administrative Centre, the Hoang Sa Exhibition House and the September 2 Peace Monument, all of which were made of bamboo and wooden toothpicks.

Participating in the festival, student Nguyen Thanh Phuong in Hai Chau District said that the event created a healthy, fun, and useful playground for young people to gain more understanding of the traditional cultural beauty of the homeland.

Director of the Museum of Da Nang Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien said that the Da Nang Cultural Heritage Festival 2024 aimed to spread stories about heritage associated with urban planning and outstanding architectural works in Da Nang. This was also an opportunity for people to more clearly visualize the transformation of streets and villages in Da Nang through each period.

Coming to this event, the public immersed into a cultural space with attractive activities, participated in learning, discovered meaningful and interesting historical and cultural stories behind the city's architectural heritages and experienced different levels of emotions through a series of activities.

“Through the programme, we aimed to preserve, promote and honour the unique cultural heritage values of Da Nang, while at the same time raising the responsibility of the entire community in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage values in the city,” said Mr. Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien.
