The patient started having the disease at the age of 7, and her family took her to many hospitals for examination, diagnosis and treatment. Sometimes she was misdiagnosed with psychological disorders. In 2016, the female patient was diagnosed with epilepsy and started taking antiepileptic drugs.
During the course of taking the drugs, the patient became resistant to the drugs and took up to 3 types of anti-epileptic drugs, but still had 8-9 seizures each night.
After measuring the video EEG, taking an MRI according to the epilepsy protocol, taking an FDG-PET scan as well as consulting with domestic and foreign experts, doctors from the Neurology Ward determined the patient's epileptic area and decided to perform surgery.
After more than 3 months of follow-up, the patient no longer had seizures. This surgery is a step forward for the Da Nang Hospital in the treatment of epilepsy, aiming to better serve epileptic patients in Da Nang and central Viet Nam.
