With the desire to create beautiful landscapes for local beaches as well as add green to the seaside roads, contributing to improving urban aesthetics and developing sea tourism services, the municipal People's Committee has just issued a plan to plant coconut trees along local beaches.
The purpose of the plan is to maintain and promote the effectiveness of the "Tet tree planting" movement in agencies, organisations, individuals, unions and enterprises citywide.
Accordingly, the local authorities are calling for support to plant nearly 1,200 coconut trees on the Hoang Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap beach (Son Tra District), around 150 trees on the Truong Sa Beach (Ngu Hanh Son District), over 1,110 trees on a section of Nguyen Tat Thanh Beach (Thanh Khe District), and 1,035 trees on a section of Nguyen Tat Thanh Beach (Lien Chieu district).
The time for sponsorship mobilisation is divided into 2 phases, from October to November 2024 (first phase) and from January to March 2025 (second phase). The coconut planting time is also divided into 2 stages: from December 2024 to the end of the first quarter of 2025 (first phase) and from April to the end of the third quarter of 2025 (second phase).
To effectively implement the proposed plan, the municipal People's Committee assigns the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches under the Department of Tourism to take the responsibility for the implementation of the plan and receiving of coconut trees from sponsors.
Relevant units are urged to mobilise resources and call for contributions to plant coconut trees on beaches in the city.
The Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, socio-political organisations, associations, unions, and business associations are asked to promote the role and responsibility in propagating and mobilising members to participate in planting, caring for, and protecting trees. Organisations, businesses, households, individuals, communities, and volunteers contribute efforts and resources to plant coconut trees on beaches in the city.
In addition, the Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee has sent a letter calling on individuals, organisations, agencies, and businesses to join hands in sponsoring coconut trees, contributing to beautifying green spaces at Da Nang beaches, and forming vibrant and attractive landscape architecture for people and tourists. Each coconut tree planted is not only a symbol of love for nature but also has great significance in minimising the impact of climate change, limiting coastal erosion and landslides. The city is committed to directing the maintenance and upkeep of coconut trees after receiving them, bringing a green and sustainable landscape to the city.
Planting more trees, creating a landscape for the coastal tourism environment is highly supported by local people and tourists.
Mrs. Nguyen Thi Van, residing in Tho Quang Ward, Son Tra District, said that the planting of coconut trees on beaches in the city will create a green hedge, contributing to making the beaches greener and creating a special highlight for domestic and foreign tourists.
Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong said that in recent years, the development of green spaces at local beaches has received deep attention and active participation from authorities at all levels and local residents.
The work of protecting and maintaining trees to ensure good growth and development at some beaches has created a green landscape for Da Nang's beaches.
The municipal People's Committee has issued a plan to plant coconut trees with the aim of gradually building and protecting the coastal landscape environment, preventing erosion, and limiting the impact of climate change.
This plan also contributes to the implementation of Prime Minister’s decision approving a project on growing 1 billion trees in Viet Nam during the 2021 - 2025 period, and the city’s plan to implement the abovementioned project in the city.
