The Standing Board of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of Hai Chau District in Da Nang held a meeting on Tuesday to review the 10-year implementation of the model "Friendly Hai Chau people, airy sidewalks, clean streets" as well as deploy tasks for the coming time.

According to a report delivered at the meeing, after 10 years of implementation, the model has achieved many practical results, contributing to building a cultural and civilised urban lifestyle in the district.

The district-level Fatherland Front Committee has organised more than 470 propaganda classes for more than 600,000 people in residential areas. Every year, 97.7% of households achieve the title of Cultural Family, and 87.6% of groups achieve the title of Cultural Residential Group. Also, 100% of service business households have signed a commitment to handle street vendors, shoe shiners and beggars at their business locations, and limit sidewalk encroachment.

In addition, more than 130 sections of roads have been recognised as "Urban Civilised Road Sections". A campaign to plant trees during Tet, over 1,200 environmental cleaning campaigns, and nearly 370 campaigns to dredge and clear sewers before the rainy season and clean up after storms, have been launched.

On the occasion, 20 collectives and individuals were honoured by the Hai Chau District People's Committee, and 8 outstanding collectives by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the district for effectively implementing the model "Friendly Hai Chau people, airy sidewalks, clean streets".
