The sowing schedule for the Winter-Spring crop runs from December 10 to 31. Medium-duration rice varieties are sown from December 10 to 25, while short-duration varieties are planted between December 25 and 31. The 13/2 variety is sown from December 5 to 10.

The main rice varieties for the 2024-2025 Winter-Spring crop in the city include Ha Phat 3, DT100, and VNR10. Depending on the characteristics of specific fields, farmers are also sowing supplementary varieties such as VNR20, HN6, Dai Thom 8, Thien Uu 8, HT1, and promising types like HG12, ST25, and Huong Chau 6.

Field observations show that land preparation has been completed across production areas, and farmers are focusing all efforts on sowing to meet the seasonal and varietal requirements set by the city’s agricultural sector. In some areas with abundant water resources, such as Hoa Khuong Commune, Hoa Vang District, many farmers have already sown long-duration rice varieties.

To mitigate adverse weather conditions caused by frequent rains early in the season, farmers are paying close attention to crop care. Many have stockpiled additional seeds as a precaution against damage to young rice plants from flooding.

Farmers have also started early soil preparation, taking advantage of rainwater to eliminate harmful pests, particularly rodents and golden apple snails. Photo TRAN TRUC
