Under the direction of the Da Nang People's Committee, the municipal Department of Tourism assigned the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches to encourage agencies, organisations, businesses, and residents in the city to contribute coconut trees for planting at tourist beaches.

After one month of implementation, the Management Board has received nearly 700 coconut trees, out of the planned total of 3,497 trees, from over 40 organisations, agencies, businesses, and individuals.

According to the plan, coconut trees will be planted along Truong Sa - Vo Nguyen Giap -Hoang Sa, and Nguyen Tat Thanh coastal routes. The planting will be conducted in two phases: Phase 1 from December 2024 to the end of the first quarter of 2025, and Phase 2 from April 2025 to the end of the third quarter of 2025.

Currently, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches is carrying out the first phase, planting over 300 coconut trees at Man Thai Beach, Man Thai Ward, Son Tra District.

In the coming period, the Management Board will continue to call for contributions and support from social organisations and environmentally conscious individuals to further implement the city’s coconut tree planting initiative as planned.

Da Nang is a coastal city renowned among domestic and international tourists for its long stretches of beaches, fine white sand, and lush coconut groves. Planting coconut trees at tourist beaches aims to enhance the scenic beauty of the beaches, add more greenery, create vibrant and attractive landscapes for residents and visitors, mitigate the impacts of climate change, and reduce coastal erosion and shoreline encroachment.
