Innovating ideological activities

Since its establishment 5 years ago, the Young Theory Club of the Hai Chau District-based Youth Union organisation has increasingly renewed the content and form of activities.

To date, the Club has 30 members who are grassroots youth union officials and members, along with outstanding young people in the locality.

According to Deputy Secretary of the district’s Youth Union organisation Le Vien Thanh, the club organises exchange activities once a quarter with topics related to important political events of the country and the city or issues that are of interest to public opinion and society in order to both orientate ideology and attract the participation of members.

Specifically, in the second and third quarters of 2024, the club held activities with the themes "Struggling to protect the Party's ideological foundation in digital transformation is an important task for young people", and "General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong - An outstanding leader, devoted his life to the country and the people".

In particular, the form of activities is always changed. Instead of one-way information transmission conferences, the club focuses on organising activities in open spaces such as the Da Nang Museum, and inviting reporters to share interesting stories about President Ho Chi Minh at the APEC Park.

Meanwhile, at the Young Theory Club of Son Tra District-based Youth Union organisation, Secretary Nguyen Thanh Tung shared that in order to avoid monotony and dryness in activities, the club has recently organised activities at the Cultural Space of late General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong of the Museum of Military Region 5.

Sometimes, the club organises visits to red addresses. These practical activities create a new and attractive atmosphere for members. Furthermore, it helps members raise awareness of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh's thought, the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws and policies, and the nation's fine traditional values.

With the desire to diversify the forms of theoretical research approaches for young people, Head of the Da Nang Youth Union's Publicity and Training Department Truong Thi Ngoc Phuong informed that the municipal Youth Union plans to launch the Young Theory radio channel, and coordinate with the municipal Party Committee's Publicity and Training Department to record award-winning articles in the 2024 political essay contest on protecting the Party's ideological foundation to broadcast on this radio channel. Along with that, infographics and short videos about the life and career of late President Ho Chi Minh will be created.

"These new forms are suitable for the tastes and current trends of youth union members and young people. Hopefully, they will attract more young people to the club" Ms. Phuong expressed.

Correct action orientation

Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union organisation in Hai Chau District Le Vien Thanh said that the Young Theory Club has become an attractive and effective model of political theory activities, helping key Youth Union cadres access official information, and practice their mettle and social criticism skills. This force will be the propagandists at the grassroots level, so they will spread positive information, policies and guidelines of the Party, State and the city to a large number of youth union members and the youth.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Ho Dinh Tri, Head of the Youth Board of the Da Nang Department of Public Security, the Department’s Young Theory Club consists of 25 members who are secretaries of affiliated Youth Union units.

After more than 3 years of establishment, the Club has contributed to promoting political and ideological education, strengthening political theory, and raising theoretical awareness from the practical work of the Youth Union and the youth movement, aiming to build a team of union members and young police officers who are good at professional expertise, and steadfast in political will, meeting practical requirements in the new situation.

In particular, the Club is also a channel for information to grasp, exchange, and orient issues related to the ideological developments and perceptions of cadres and soldiers; along with hot issues that are of interest to the people.

Head of the Da Nang Youth Union's Publicity and Training Department Truong Thi Ngoc Phuong emphasised that the model of the Young Theory Club is not only an effective and widespread political theory environment, but also promptly grasps the ideology and has orientations to help cadres, union members, and young people improve their awareness, level, and political will. This is also a form of training young people in identifying and fighting against wrong and hostile views on cyberspace, contributing to firmly protecting the Party's theoretical foundation in the current development trend of social networks.
