In response to the campaign "Each organisation, each individual associated with a humanitarian address" launched by the Viet Nam Red Cross Society, the Da Nang Red Cross Society has mobilised units, localities, and businesses to deploy many support programmes, aiming to join hands to share difficulties with the disadvantaged, and spread the spirit of humanity in the community.

In the last days of 2024, the family of Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long in Hoa Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District was full of joy when their dream house was already completed. His family is poor, and his wife is in poor health. He works as a motorbike taxi driver to support his wife and four school-age children. The level 4 house is severely degraded, so it is not only inconvenient for daily life but also unsafe during storms.

Knowing Mr. Long's family situation, the municipal Red Cross Society raised VND 60 million from the Central Power Corporation to help him build a new house. To support the family to soon escape poverty, the Red Cross Society continued to connect with the Huong Sen Charity Club in Da Nang to donate a motorbike worth VND 9.5 million in order to help him have a means of transporting passengers and improving his income.

Similarly, Mrs. Ngo Thi Bong, residing in Hoa Tho Dong Ward, Cam Le District, is a poor, single-parent household, living on subsidies and support from neighbours. The level 4 house built many years ago is dilapidated and unsafe.

To support her in having a new place to live, the municipal Red Cross Society mobilised VND 60 million from the Da Nang Lottery Company Limited to repair the house.

At a ceremony to receive the house, Mrs. Bong could not hide her emotions, saying that "Thanks to the active support from the city’s Red Cross Society and sponsors, I have a new, spacious and solid house. Without this support, I would not have been able to have such a new house".

In 2024, the Da Nang Red Cross Society and its chapters at all levels connected and mobilised units and businesses to support the construction of 5 new houses and repair 5 others for disadvantaged people.

Additionally, the city’s Red Cross Society maintains support for more than 2,500 humanitarian addresses through scholarships, medical treatment funds, vocational training costs, and monthly living expenses with a total value of nearly VND 10.24 billion.

The family of Mr. Ngo Duy Phuong in Hoa Son Commune, Hoa Vang District, is one of the humanitarian addresses that the Party Committee of the Da Nang Government Department and Agency Bloc has maintained support over the past 6 years.

Mr. Phuong is the main worker but suffers from kidney failure, his wife has a mental illness, and his elderly mother has cancer. Monthly living expenses and medicine have become a burden for him.

Since 2018, his family has received partial financial support from the Party Committee of the Da Nang Government Department and Agency Bloc to cover medicine and living expenses.

Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Da Nang Government Department and Agency Bloc Ho Thi Lan Huong said that in response to the campaign "Each organisation, each individual associated with a humanitarian address" for the 2024-2028 period, in 2024, the Party Committee mobilised cadres and party members of affiliated party committees to contribute funds to help 111 disadvantaged people in 11 communes of Hoa Vang District, with a total cost of more than VND 276 million.

In order to build a compassionate and humane community, Hai Chau District Party Committee made "Each business, organization, and individual registers to help a humanitarian address" one of the 7 key programmes in the 2020-2025 term.

After 5 years of implementation, People's Committees of Hai Chau District and wards have connected and mobilised support for 654 disadvantaged addresses, with a total budget of nearly VND 5.3 billion.

Moreover, the Front, associations, unions, and socio-political organisations at all levels in the district mobilised resources to support food, essential supplies, medical examination and treatment costs, scholarships, and savings books for hundreds of cases in need.

"The programme attracted hundreds of noble gestures from organisations and individuals, creating a ripple effect in agencies, units, businesses and the whole society. Thanks to this, more than 1,500 poor people and people in difficult circumstances received support worth nearly VND 8 billion in total. This helped those in difficult circumstances to rise up in life, and contributed to the poverty reduction movement and took care of social security in the district", said Standing Deputy Secretary of Hai Chau District Party Committee Vo Thanh Trung.
