Implementing the resolution of the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward Party Committee and under the direct guidance of the municipal and district Farmers’ Associations, the ward’s Farmers’ Association has effectively carried out its programmes and activities. As Chairwoman, Ms Mai has undertaken various initiatives to implement Resolution No. 46-NQ/TW of the Politburo, which focuses on renewing and enhancing the quality of the Viet Nam Farmers’ Association to meet the demands of the new revolutionary period in the ward.
Over the past year, the association has organised various meaningful activities such as the Farmer Innovation Contest, promoting digital transformation in agriculture, the "Green Banh Chung" competition to support underprivileged members during Tet, and the "Zero-VND Market", which helps farmers sell their products.
Particularly, noticing that many areas of land in the ward were left unused, Ms Mai encouraged farmers to make use of these vacant plots to grow short-term crops such as beans and sesame, or engage in shrimp and fish farming, which has proven to be highly effective in increasing income. Thanks to this model, farming households such as those of Le Kim Hung, Nguyen Xao, and Nguyen Nho have achieved an income of over VND 100 million per year.
"Hoa Hiep Bac is undergoing urban renovation, causing agricultural land to shrink. However, the forest resources here are a great advantage for forest-garden economic development. Therefore, we encourage farmers to invest in both short-term and long-term crops, using quick-growing crops to sustain income while waiting for long-term yields. This approach ensures stable livelihood and sustainable economic development," said Ms Mai.
Alongside closely monitoring the local farming situation and motivating farmers, the association has encouraged members to use loan capital effectively. As a result, there have been no cases of overdue or deferred loan repayments. Additionally, Ms Mai proposed that the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the ward allocate more funds to support farmers. Thanks to this initiative, farmer members received an additional VND 50 million to purchase machinery and equipment, including a rebar bending machine, a sugarcane juicer, two sets of tables and chairs, and an electric stove. This support has helped vocational groups in construction develop livelihood projects, enabling many members to escape poverty in 2024.
With the desire to support the ward’s farmer members in economic development, Ms Mai has consistently strived to manage, lead, and implement her assigned responsibilities effectively. She has provided guidance to the Party Committee, collaborated with the ward-based People’s Committee, and facilitated favourable conditions for farmers to improve their economy, enhance their income, and stabilise their lives. At the same time, she has played a key role in strengthening the association, fostering a competitive spirit among farmers, encouraging agricultural production, expanding successful economic models, and creating more job opportunities to improve income levels among farmer members.
Thanks to the continuous efforts of Mai and the collective Farmers’ Association, from 2019 to the present, the association’s work and farmer movements in the ward have consistently led the entire district. Ms Mai herself has received multiple awards from various levels of government.
According to Mr Nguyen Kim Dung, Standing Vice Chairman of the Municipal Farmers’ Association, the association has always prioritised grassroots-level activities, implementing effective initiatives for members. Ms Truong Thi Ngoc Mai is an energetic and dedicated leader who has introduced many creative ideas to the association. She remains closely connected with farmer members, actively supporting them in agricultural production. Thanks to her efforts, the Hoa Hiep Bac Farmers’ Association has been a consistently outstanding performer, leading the farmers' movement in Lien Chieu District and receiving multiple commendations from various levels of government.
Thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of outstanding association leaders, the quality of the Farmers’ Association's activities has significantly improved. This, in turn, has helped spread successful agricultural and business practices throughout the locality, contributing to agricultural restructuring and new rural development.
In the coming period, the Municipal Farmers’ Association will continue to direct its branches to innovate and improve the quality of movements that encourage farmers to excel in production and business, foster solidarity in helping one another achieve prosperity, and promote sustainable poverty reduction.
