Over VND 35 billion raised for "For the Poor" Fund

In his remarks at the conference held in Da Nang on Wednesday to review the mobilisation, management and use of the "For the Poor" Fund and relief resources in 2024, Chairman of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city Le Van Trung highly appreciated the efforts of the fronts at all levels in mobilising resources to support the poor, and well ensure social welfare in 2024.

At the same time, he requested the members of the mobilisation committee of the "For the Poor" Fund to continue promoting propaganda and mobilising the Fund to create resources to support the poor as well as implement social security work and the city's sustainable poverty reduction programme.

In the immediate future, focus should be on taking care of the Lunar New Year 2025 for families, workers, and labourers in difficult circumstances, and organising the "Spring of Love" programme, he added.

Specifically, more than 20,346 Tet gifts in cash, worth VND 500,000 each, will be given to households with special difficulties in the "Spring of Love" Programme. Also, Tet gifts, totalling more than VND 556 million, will be presented to ethnic minorities in Hoa Phu, Hoa Bac and Hoa Ninh communes in Hoa Vang District.

Reported at the conference, in 2024, over VND 35 billion was raised for the "For the Poor" Fund from organisations, units, businesses and individuals, reaching 129.9% of the plan.

The donated money went to support the construction of 65 new houses and the repair of 329 "Great Solidarity" houses with a total amount of more than VND 11.2 billion, provide production means for 374 cases with a total amount of over VND 2.2 billion, offer medical examination and treatment to148 people with a total amount of VND 507.3 million, and give scholarships, valued at over 3 billion in total, to 3,095 poor studious students.

At the conference, 10 collectives and 4 individuals were awarded Certificates of Merit by the Da Nang People's Committee, whilst 15 collectives and 5 individuals received Certificates of Merit by the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Committee of the city, in recognition of their outstanding achievements in mobilising, managing and using the "For the Poor" Fund in 2024.
