Sharing and supporting students during Tet
The Youth Union - Student Association of Da Nang, and universities and colleges citywide, have organised various activities and programmes to support underprivileged students, enabling them to enjoy a warm and joyous Tet 2025.

Among the 330 students receiving free bus tickets from the Dong A University to return home for Tet, Cao Thi Minh Thanh, a third-year student from Dak Nong, shared her emotions “This is the second year I’ve received a coach ticket from the university. For a student far from home, juggling work and studies, this coach ticket is truly meaningful.”
Since early January 2025, the Youth Unions - Student Associations of universities and colleges in the city have surveyed and identified the needs of students to develop plans to support those facing difficulties in returning home for Tet. According to Mr. Tran Hoang Em, Secretary of the Youth Union of Dong A University, the institution annually supports underprivileged students, especially those from distant provinces, during Tet. This year, 330 bus tickets worth a total of VND 66 million were distributed. The funding was raised through contributions from staff, lecturers, employees, and partner businesses.
Similarly, the University of Science and Education- the University of Da Nang has planned to assist students in difficult circumstances by providing transport tickets. Mr. Nguyen Vinh San, Head of the Administration and Organisation Department, stated that the university has changed its support method this year by offering cash equivalent to a ticket, allowing students greater flexibility in travel. The university has distributed 50 transport allowances (worth VND 15 million in total) to dormitory residents, 200 Tet coach tickets (worth VND 40 million in total), and five scholarships, each valued at VND 1 million each, for students with disabilities. Additionally, the university plans to organise traditional Tet activities, such as cooking ‘banh chung’ and ‘banh tet’, to introduce international students to Vietnamese customs and provide gifts for those staying on campus during Tet.
To provide free tickets for students, universities and the Youth Union - Student Association have mobilised resources from various sources.
Mr. Truong Ngoc Son, Secretary of the Youth Union of the University of Science and Technology - the University of Da Nang, announced that the "DUT Bus - Bringing Spring Home" programme would provide gifts and transport for 60 students, including 45 from northern provinces and 15 from the south. For those not travelling home, the university plans a pre-Tet gathering to share and encourage them.
Meanwhile, the University of Technology and Education- the University of Da Nang has partnered with Draexlmaier Automotive Viet Nam to offer 20 gift packages (worth VND 500,000 each) to support academically outstanding but financially challenged students in buying tickets home. University of Foreign Language Studies- the University of Da Nang intends to distribute 30 bus tickets and 20 scholarships to disadvantaged students.
Dr. Do Le Hung Toan, President of the Student Association of the University of Da Nang, shared that with contributions from businesses and association funds, 300 coach tickets worth VND 60 million have been distributed to underprivileged students for Tet 2025. Additionally, international students remaining in Viet Nam for Tet will receive gifts and support.
Recently, the Da Nang Youth Union - Student Association has awarded scholarships, valued at VND 15 million each, to 12 exemplary students overcoming challenges and distributed 100 Tet coach tickets.
Mr. Le Cong Hung, Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union and President of the Student Association, stated that various levels of the Student Associations in the city have organised activities to provide bus tickets and gifts for disadvantaged students. Those not travelling home will receive Tet gifts and job referrals to earn additional income. These efforts aim to help students overcome difficulties and welcome a joyful new year.
