Spreading positivity to society
With the desire to spread stories of kindness, positive values, and uplifting images to its members, the “Good News at the Start, Good Stories at the End of the Week” initiative has been implemented by women's unions across the city. This programme shares inspiring stories of good deeds, positive actions, and exemplary individuals, contributing to the promotion of cultural and traditional values among women members.
For over a year, the “Zero-Cost Agricultural Market” has been organized monthly by the Women’s Union of An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District. The market offers essential agricultural products such as vegetables, eggs, and fruits, many of which are donated by Brigade 88. This initiative has provided significant support to disadvantaged and vulnerable women in the ward.
Ms Nguyen Cuu Thuy Nha, Chairwoman of the Women's Union of An Khe Ward, shared that during each market session, the union distributes gifts to approximately 40 women in difficult circumstances. Each gift, worth VND 150,000, includes agricultural products and food. In 2024, the union organized 10 market sessions and distributed gifts to 380 households. This activity is part of the broader “Good News at the Start, Good Stories at the End of the Week” initiative. Additionally, the ward’s sub-unions engage in waste sorting for fundraising, cleaning public areas, collecting recyclables to support charity piggy banks, and assisting disadvantaged members, including those with severe illnesses and orphaned children.
In a similar effort to support vulnerable women, the Women’s Union of An Hai Nam Ward, Son Tra District has carried out meaningful activities for its members and impoverished workers. These include the “Loving Meal” programme and the “Happiness Vitamin” initiative, where fruit and vegetables are distributed to disadvantaged members on the 30th of each month. Other initiatives, such as the “Zero-Cost Lunch” programme and waste sorting for fundraising, are also actively maintained.
Nguyen Thuy Hong My Le Dung, Chairwoman of the Women’s Union of An Hai Nam Ward, noted that these initiatives are regularly implemented to share and spread love among members and the broader community. Alongside the “Godmother Support” programme, the union’s “Fulfilling Dreams” project, funded by donations from organizations and benefactors, provides financial and emotional support to orphaned and disadvantaged children in the ward. The union not only offers material assistance but also organizes activities like cooking, games, and social interactions to support the children’s emotional and personal development.
The “Good News at the Start, Good Stories at the End of the Week” initiative was launched by the city’s Women’s Union, sharing meaningful stories from female members every Monday and Friday on social media platforms or the union’s official fan pages. The goal is to inspire and promote acts of kindness and positive deeds.
Luong Thi Dao, Vice Chairwoman of the Da Nang Women’s Union, emphasized that over the past year, local unions have actively and flexibly implemented practical and effective activities. “Good News at the Start, Good Stories at the End of the Week” initiative has successfully spread inspiring actions and meaningful stories within the community. The programme has highlighted good deeds and exemplary individuals, contributing to building the image of women in the modern era.
