Traditional education through youth projects
With the desire to contribute to creating a bright, green, clean and safe environment, the Youth Union organisation of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, Lien Chieu District, Da Nang has actively implemented murals under the theme ‘Hoa Hiep Bac Youths keep faith in the Party’. In a short time, the old mossy walls of Tran Binh Trong Primary School on Nguyen Phuoc Chu Street have been dressed in a "new coat" with eye-catching brilliant colours.

In recent days, people passing by Nguyen Phuoc Chu Street have encountered brilliant murals. With 13 large-sized murals of beautiful Vietnamese landscapes, praising the Party, Uncle Ho, the army, and the tradition of the Youth Union, every passerby was very amazed because they are very vivid. Many young people were very excited to admire the unique works of art and take souvenir photos with them.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, a resident from Hoa Hiep Bac Ward, happily said that after the ward's youth and students finished the murals, the street became brighter, bringing a sense of peace and excitement. Meanwhile, Ms. Tran Thi Anh Hong took the opportunity to take a few souvenir photos with her daughter, who is studying at Tran Binh Trong Primary School, before her child went to class.
"I often take my child to and from school. In the past few days, there has been a new joy and excitement in the heart of my child as well as many others. The murals painted on the school's fence can also be considered a place to educate and raise awareness and responsibility for the children. I find it very meaningful."
With creative ideas and youthful enthusiasm, for a green, clean and beautiful road, the youth union members of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward coordinated with the Youth Union organisation of the Da Nang University of Architecture to come up with ideas, personally clean the old walls and create murals there.
After more than 1 week of hard work with the enthusiastic and responsible participation of dozens of youth union members, the 65m long mural street was completed, with a total cost of over VND30 million. Thereby, many meaningful messages are sent to everyone as well as each union member and youth to raise their responsibility for developing the homeland, protecting the environment, maintaining traffic order and safety, preventing school violence, and uniting to participate in building civilized urban areas.
Nguyen Trung, a student majoring in interior design at the Da Nang University of Architecture, the head of the painting group, said that with the spirit of pioneering youth and the advantage of studying an artistic major, Trung wanted to join hands with local youths to express a variety of ideas with many different messages on old walls to create freshness, contributing to spreading messages and stories about time-honour traditions and culture to the whole community, especially to local residents.
Nguyen Sy Gia Huy, a member of the Youth Union organisation of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward said that during the time of cleaning the walls and painting murals with peers at the Da Nang University of Architecture, he felt very excited because this is a very meaningful youth project to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Viet Nam; 94th anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; 20th anniversary of the founding of Hoa Hiep Bac Ward; welcoming the Congress of the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward Party Committee for the 2025 - 2030 term.
The implementation of the mural street not only contributes to raising awareness but also significantly improving the natural landscape, raising public awareness in joining hands to protect the environment. In the coming time, the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward Youth Union organisation will continue to mobilise resources, maintain this highly meaningful movement so that there will be more and more mural streets, contributing to building a rich and civilised homeland.
Secretary of the Hoa Hiep Bac Ward Youth Union organisation Huynh Vo Ha Le said: “The project is a common achievement with material support and contributions of many people. Each painting is a story, an inspiring message about the glorious tradition of the Party, Uncle Ho, the army, the love for the homeland, the country. So as to promote its long-term significance, in the coming time, we will try to continue to expand these mural roads into other public locations and schools across the ward, in order to contribute to building an increasingly beautiful landscape and environment”.
It can be said that mural paintings are a meaningful youth project, demonstrating the role and responsibility of young people in building an increasingly developed homeland and conveying a new, peaceful and bright life.
