Doctor Doan Quoc Bao, who is Deputy Head of Internal Medicine Department of the Da Nang Oncology Hospital, is not only good at expertise but also exemplary for a young generation of doctors in terms of spirit and enthusiasm for the profession. Aside from being devoted to specialised research projects, he also cares about the psychology and emotions of patients.

A great example of dedication to patients

Dr. Bao is always ready to listen and share with patients, and helps them overcome the difficulties of the disease. During each examination, he patiently explains the condition of the disease, the treatment regimen and what the patient needs to prepare.

One of the special stories about Dr. Bao is his spiritual support for many patients who have experienced major events in their lives.

For instance, when receiving treatment for a cancer patient, 24, residing in Da Nang, he had to convince the patient with the Western medicine treatment regimen but her family was determined to leave the hospital to choose the treatment solution with the uses of various plants and leaves. Despite the difficulties, he knew that for newly diagnosed cancer patients, what they need more than medicine is to feel loved and understood in this difficult journey.

Therefore, Dr. Bao chose to talk and consult. There were conversations that lasted more than an hour, and Dr. Bao lit up the patients' faith and hope, making them feel more confident in the fight against the terrible cancer.

Initiatives and solutions in treatment

Not only stopping at medical examination and treatment, Dr. Bao is also one of the pioneers in applying new techniques in cancer treatment. He and his colleagues researched the RDHAOx regimen in the treatment of drug resistance in Non-Hodgkin Lymphomas and implemented modern treatment methods, such as advanced radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapy, to improve the effectiveness of treatment. This not only helps patients improve their health but also reduces the burden of treatment costs.

Dr. Bao also constantly seeks opportunities to exchange and learn from domestic and foreign experts by participating in many cancer prevention seminars. In particular, at the 27th Cancer Prevention Seminar held in Ho Chi Minh City, Dr. Bao gave a presentation contributing many good solutions in research in front of many leading scientists. Through those professional exchanges, Dr. Bao updated new knowledge and complex medical conditions. Thanks to that, he has developed many innovative treatment methods to help optimise the treatment process and improve the quality of life for patients.

Special impressions

When talking about the times participating in charity medical examination and treatment, Dr. Bao shared about the times he went to  remote mountains areas of Tay Giang, Bac Tra My and Nam Tra My in Quang Nam Province.

“The trips always give me a lot of motivation, as well as many dreams of supporting disadvantaged patients and ethnic minorities in receiving free medical examination and treatment” Dr. Bao shared.

During those volunteer trips, he and his colleagues organised community health consultation sessions, helping to raise awareness of the signs of cancer and encouraging people to proactively have regular health check-ups. These activities not only reflect the spirit of volunteerism but also affirm the social role of doctors in taking care of community health.

Dr. Doan Quoc Bao is not only the image of a highly skilled doctor but also a symbol of enthusiasm and dedication to the profession. Dr. Bao and many other young doctors have proven that youth lies not only in age but also in heart and responsibility to the community. Their contributions to the medical field in general and to cancer patient care in particular are extremely valuable.
