In his opening speech at the scientific workshop themed "Continuing the heroic tradition - Da Nang strives to enter a new era" held on Friday morning, Standing Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh affirmed that over the past 95 years, under the leadership of the Party, the Vietnamese people have taken miraculous steps on the path of national liberation, and the building and development of the country.

From the status of slaves, Vietnamese people have become the masters of the country, and the holders of the destiny of the nation. From a semi-feudal colony, Viet Nam has become an independent country with a developing economy and an increasingly important position in the international arena.

Over the past 95 years, the Party Committee, government and people of Da Nang have strived to overcome difficulties and challenges to rise from the "cradle of revolution in Central Viet Nam" to become a dynamic city, a key centre of the region in terms of economy, politics, culture and society during the period of building a prosperous and happy country.

Standing Deputy Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee Nguyen Dinh Vinh delivered the opening speech.

Deputy Secretary Vinh said that during the 1997-2024 period, the economic structure showed the dominance of the service sector. Notably, the proportion of the service sector increased from 48.21% in 1997 to 71.14% in 2024 in the city’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP).

Also, culture, education, health, science and technology have been focused on. Many social welfare programmes, such as '5 No's, 3 Yes's' and 'City of 4 Safe', have been carried out effectively in the city.

To date, the city has supported the construction and repair of houses for 2,495 social policy beneficiaries, with a total budget of more than VND 81.69 billion. It completed the goal of reducing 9,663 poor households in the 2022-2025 period.

Science and technology have been prioritised for investment and development with the construction of infrastructure and technical facilities to serve research and training activities, and boost the application and transfer of technology, and the development of innovative startups.

During the workshop, delegates exchanged and affirmed the correct and wise leadership and direction of the Da Nang Party Committee since its inception in 1930 in leading and directing the people to win victories in the two struggles for national liberation, and in building Da Nang into an increasingly rich, beautiful, civilised and modern city. This, thereby, clarified more scientific arguments, affirming that Da Nang is the cradle of the revolution in Central Viet Nam, and a dynamic city, and a key point of the Central region in terms of economy, politics, culture - society in the period of building a prosperous and happy country, towards the era of national development.
