In order to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment and meet the increasing health care needs of the people, medical projects in Da Nang are speeding up the progress. Many key projects are invested synchronously and modernly, aiming to complete the medical system, reduce the load on upper-level hospitals and improve the quality of services.

The project to renovate and upgrade the Lien Chieu Medical Centre is expected to be completed and put into use on September 2, 2025.

Speeding up the progress of key medical projects

After more than one year of construction, the Lien Chieu District Medical Centre project is entering the "sprint" stage. The new 9-storey building is expected to be completed and put into operation in 2025.

Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, the Deputy Director of the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Civil, Industrial and Technical Infrastructure Works in Da Nang, the investor, said that the Lien Chieu District Medical Centre upgrade project has a scale of 400 beds, with a total investment of nearly VND455 billion from the state budget.

The project includes a 9-storey multi-functional building, an infectious disease and infection control building and many other technical infrastructure items. The project started in December 2023 and was expected to be completed by the end of April 2025, but due to complicated construction conditions, the progress was delayed by about two months.

Currently, the construction unit is focusing on human resources and mobilising vehicles to speed up the progress, striving to complete it by July 2025, then continuing to implement renovation items according to the commitment to the City People's Committee.

According to the Lien Chieu District Medical Centre, the number of patients visiting the centre from 800 - 1,000 /day has now increased to 1,200 - 1,400 /day and is expected to continue to increase in the coming time.

Therefore, the city’s authorities and the investor directed the contractor to speed up the progress and hand over the project soon to meet the increasing demand for medical examination and treatment.

Mr. Hoang Thanh Hoa, Chairman of Lien Chieu District People’s Committee, said that with the development of industrial parks, large colleges and universities in the area, the mechanical population of the district is increasing rapidly, exceeding 500,000 people by 2030.

Therefore, investing in and upgrading the Lien Chieu District Medical Centre will not only meet the medical examination and treatment needs of local people but also meet the needs of neighbouring areas.

Recently, at the inspection of a number of projects in Lien Chieu District, Vice Chairman of the Da Nang People’s Committee Tran Chi Cuong mentioned that the city will continue to invest in upgrading the Lien Chieu Medical Centre (Phase 3) with the aim of developing it into a specialised hospital serving the northwestern region of Da Nang.

The city’s leaders requested that the investor coordinate with contractors to develop a specific construction plan and focus resources on synchronously implementing the medical equipment package to complete the entire project before September 2, 2025.

In Hoa Vang District, the project to upgrade and renovate the Hoa Vang District General Hospital is also being accelerated, ensuring labour safety and construction quality. The two inpatient and infectious disease buildings are expected to be completed by the end of March 2025, helping to move departments and rooms to a new area to continue construction of the remaining items. With a total investment of more than VND370 billion, the project has now reached more than 96% of the workload.

Regularly visiting the hospital, Ms. Le Thi Hao, a resident in Hoa Phong Commune, Hoa Vang District shared: “I am really looking forward to the new hospital coming into operation. The old facility is degraded, there are many patients, and the space is cramped. When the new hospital is put into use, medical examination and treatment will definitely be much more convenient.”

Mr. Le Tan Quy, Hoa Nhon Commune, Hoa Vang District, also expressed: “My house is near the hospital, my family often visits here. Hopefully the project will be completed soon to better serve the people.”

Towards a modern and specialized healthcare system

In addition to the project to renovate and upgrade the Lien Chieu Medical Centre and the Hoa Vang District General Hospital, the city is also implementing many other key healthcare projects. In particular, the project to upgrade and expandthe  Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children is being accelerated, striving to complete before November 2025.

The project has a total investment of nearly VND789 billion with the construction of a 14-storey high-quality technical and examination and treatment centre, one basement, with a scale of 399 beds and many auxiliary items.

Currently, the project has reached more than 95% of the work load. In addition, the city also invested in construction, renovation and additional equipment.

The Da Nang Hospital for Women and Children has a total investment of more than VND 790 billion. These key health projects not only help improve the quality of medical examination and treatment but also create conditions for medical staff to work in a modern environment, contributing to serving the people more effectively.

According to the Da Nang Department of Health, the city has more than 1,000 medical examination and treatment facilities, including 96 public and nearly 1,000 private facilities, contributing to reducing the burden on upper-level hospitals and improving service quality.

Along with infrastructure investment, medical facilities also focus on improving medical examination and treatment processes, applying information technology and implementing many advanced medical techniques such as organ transplantation, vascular intervention and in vitro fertilization.

At the same time, the city is also promoting the attraction and training of high-quality human resources, ensuring synchronous development from the grassroots level to advanced specialties.

Director of the Da Nang Department of Health Tran Thanh Thuy informed that in order to meet the people's health care needs, the city's health sector has been constantly developing in the direction of strong general and specialized areas with many advanced medical techniques being deployed. In recent years, the city has focused resources on prioritizing investment in key health projects such as the Branch 2 of the Da Nang Hospital, the Ngu Hanh Son and Thanh Khe districts’ medical centres.

Many large projects have been put into operation, creating an important step forward in the development of specialized medical techniques, contributing to improving the quality of treatment. “In the coming time, the city's health sector will continue to innovate, improve infrastructure, apply high-level specialized techniques and promote administrative reform, aiming to improve the quality of medical examination and treatment, meeting the increasing health care needs of the people.”, said Ms. Thuy.
