Da Nang is not only a livable city but also known as the "city of humanity” because local people are honest, sincere, and willing to help those in difficulty and trouble.

Mr. Phan Thanh Trinh, who is working at the Marine Tourism Order Team under the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, is a typical example. He has picked up items that someone else lost and returned them to owners nearly 100 times.

Since early 2025, Mr. Trinh has returned the lost property to owners 4 times. In particular, on February 20, Ms. Pham Thi Thao Vy, a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City, accidentally dropped an iPhone 14 when walking on My Khe Beach, Ngu Hanh Son District.

Nearly 30 minutes later, she checked her bag and discovered that her phone was missing, so she called her phone number and found out that Mr. Phan Thanh Trinh had picked it up. After that, Mr. Trinh took the initiative to find her and hand over the property.

Previously, in late January 2025, Mr. Jimmy Thai, a Canadian nationality, accidentally dropped his iPhone on the sand while walking on My Khe Beach. He searched for a long time but could not find it, so he reported his case to the Marine Tourism Order Team. Based on his experience, Mr. Trinh discovered the phone buried in the sand, and then contacted and gave the phone back to the Canadian tourist.

Mr. Trinh now lives with his family in An Hai Nam Ward, Son Tra District. His daily job is to ensure security and order, and the safety of tourists, at the My Khe Beach. Over the past 15 years, he has picked up the lost items and returned them to domestic and foreign tourists nearly 100 times.

“Many tourists who received their property back were very happy and wanted to give me money as a thank you, but I didn’t accept it. Anyone in that situation would do the same. I want to spread the image of Da Nang as a beautiful, safe, and friendly city to tourists at both home and abroad” Mr. Trinh confided.

Every time he returns lost property to owners, Mr. Trinh witnesses different emotions. Some tourists suddenly burst into tears of happiness.

During a trip to Da Nang in August 2024, Mrs. Nguyen Ngoc Anh from Hoan Kiem District, Ha Noi, left her handbag containing an iPhone 15 and VND 3 million in cash on a stone bench near the Whale Temple in Phuoc My Ward, Son Tra District.

After finding the handbag, Mr. Trinh handed over it to the team’s command to return it to owner. Mrs. Ngoc Anh shared “Mr. Trinh’s beautiful action made me feel the kindness and thoughtfulness of the people here. Da Nang is beautiful because of not only its natural scenery but also its humanity".

In particular, Mr. Trinh has helped tourists find lost children many times and got involved in arresting thieves. In late October 2024, while patrolling along the My Khe Beach, he caught Ho Ngoc Viet, who was born in 2005 in Vinh Linh District, Quang Tri Province, stealing an iPhone X and VND 500,000 from a French tourist.

Mr. Tran Dai Nghia, Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourist Beaches, said that over the past 15 years, Mr. Phan Thanh Trinh has always been responsible for his job. He enthusiastically supports tourists from finding lost children to searching for and returning property. These actions not only ensure safety and civilization at the city's beaches but also contribute to showing the image of friendly and hospitable Da Nang people to visitors from near and far.
