During the peak tourist months, ensuring food safety and hygiene across Da Nang continues to be maintained seriously and synchronously. Thanks to the participation of authorities at all levels and functional sectors, and the effective propaganda work, the awareness of food safety and hygiene among food processing establishments has significantly improved, contributing to protecting public health and promoting the image of a safe and friendly tourist city.

The Han Market, one of popular tourist destinations in the city, welcomes more than 5,000 visitors every day, and the number of visitors dramatically increases during peak tourist season.

To ensure food safety, the Management Board of the Han Market has taken synchronous solutions, focusing on raising the awareness of small traders. Currently, the whole market has more than 400 stalls selling food-related products, including more than 20 stalls providing food services.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh, Head of the Management Board, the unit has been concentrating on building a civilised and safe market. In particular, 100% of food traders at the market participate in training courses on food safety and hygiene, receive regular health check-ups and are instructed to practice according to regulations. Also, inspection visits are conducted periodically, combined with visual propaganda through banners and leaflets.

Mr. Thanh added that Han Market traders regularly remind each other to comply with food safety regulations, both to protect public health and to contribute to promoting the city's tourism image.

Mrs. Vo Thi Bach Tuyet, a food technology trader at the Han Market, shared that, she was fully aware of the role of sellers in protecting consumers' health, so she always complied with legal regulations and actively attended training courses organised by the Management Board of the market.

Similarly, food safety is always guaranteed at major markets in Hai Chau District such as Moi and Con.

According to Mr. Nguyen Duc Quoc, Deputy Head of the Management Board of Markets in Hai Chau District, various propaganda measures have been implemented, such as broadcasting, hanging banners, slogans, distributing leaflets, and organising thematic propaganda conferences.

At the same time, training courses on food safety knowledge are often organised for management staff and traders at markets. Right from the beginning of the year, a food safety management team was established and assigned specific tasks according to each peak period such as holidays, Tet, and Food Safety Action Month.

At the Moi Market which is now home to over 200 stalls selling fresh, dried, and processed foods, the control of the origin of goods is always tightened. Items must have invoices and documents, clearly stating the place of production and slaughter.

Mrs. Che Thi Nga, who sells meat at the Moi Market, informed that she always chose clear sources of goods and strictly adhered to requirements on preservation conditions and hygiene in the preliminary processing and display of food. The awareness of "keeping the profession by keeping reputation" is spread by traders, creating a healthy business environment in the market.

At the city level, food safety work continues to be widely and synchronously deployed. During the January - March period, a total of 9 training courses on food safety and hygiene were provided for more than 2,190 participants. 14 propaganda sessions were organised in residential areas with 1,433 people participating. More than 6,000 leaflets were distributed, over 1,200 radio broadcasts were made and 370 propaganda banners and billboards were hung. All contents focused on raising public awareness of food safety risks, and providing guidance on selecting, processing and preserving food properly.

In response to the Action Month on Food Safety lasting from April 15 to May 15, the municipal Food Safety Management Board continues to coordinate with departments, branches and localities to promote propaganda in various forms. Moreover, the People's Committees of districts and the municipal Farmers' Association offer training courses for food and catering service providers to improve practical skills and limit health risks for the community.

Together with food safety management units, the city's market management force continues to strengthen inspection and supervision to promptly detect and handle violations related to product quality, origin and hygiene standards.
