A get-together was held in Da Nang on Friday to mark the 50^th anniversary of the city's Border Guard Tradition Day (April 5, 1975 - April 5, 2025).

Speaking at the event, Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Le Trung Chinh recalled the historic milestone on the founding of the city’s Border Guard.

He also praised officers and soldiers of the city's border guard for maintaining political mettle and revolutionary ethics, constantly innovating working methods and styles, and proactively coordinating with departments, branches, sectors, organisations, forces, and localities in the border areas to well perform the three functions of national defence, security, and foreign affairs.

In training, adhere to the motto of “Basic, practical, solid”, they synchronously and comprehensively deploy working measures, accurately forecast and promptly advise on handling situations in accordance with functions and tasks to avoid being passive and surprised.

In the fight against all types of crime, the city’s Border Guard has successfully detected and dealt with cases of smuggling, trade fraud and illegal transportation of drugs, explosives and wildlife.

Many programmes, models and movements implemented by the municipal Border Guard have had a profound impact and sustainable value.

With outstanding achievements and important contributions in the revolutionary stages, the Quang Nam - Da Nang Provincial Border Guard and the municipal Border Guard have had many collectives and individuals awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces and many other noble awards.

Chairman Chinh also assigned tasks to the municipal Border Guard to better protect the national borders, seas, and islands in the new context.

The focus will be on strongly innovating working style and methods towards formality, science, effectiveness and efficiency, accelerating administrative reform, boosting the application of information technology, automating immigration control, and monitoring security and order at the city's seaport gates.

Heed will be paid to implementing the motto of “both cooperation and struggle”; resolutely, persistently, cleverly, flexibly and supplely resolving territorial sovereignty issues; ensuring a stable environment; facilitating socio-economic development; and consolidating and strengthening national defence and security in the city’s maritime border area.

On the occasion, an individual received the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal from the State President and 10 individuals of the municipal Border Guard Command were honoured with the Victory Flag Medal from the State President.

The Party Committee of the Da Nang Border Guard was presented with Certificates of Merit from the Minister of National Defence and the Standing Board of the municipal Party Committee.

Also, 15 collectives and individuals were awarded with Certificates of Merit from Chairman of the Da Nang People's Committee in recognition of their  outstanding achievements in implementing the movement of the entire people participating in protecting territorial sovereignty and national border security in the city in 2024 and participating in protecting territorial sovereignty, security and order, building a strong coastal border area of ​​the city in the 2020-2025 period.
