Vevy – Tasty spot with bubble tea
Bubble tea, also known as pearl milk tea or boba tea, is believed to originate in Taiwan in the 1980s. The tea-based drink is a delicious mixture of tea, milk, chewy tapioca balls (called pearls, boba or bubbles), and such toppings as fruit jelly, pudding, or sweetened red beans.
It is often brightly coloured, sometimes served with milk, with a layer of jelly-like globules - tapioca balls - that settle at the bottom of the cup. Drunk through an extra thick straw with a spoon-shaped tip, it is a mouthful of tea and chewiness - both a drink and a snack.
Introduced into Viet Nam more than a decade ago, bubble tea has become an increasingly favourite drink amongst Vietnamese young people.
In Da Nang, nearly every corner of the city’s streets is occupied by such bubble tea shops as Gong Cha, Share Tea, Phuc Long, Ding Tea, BoBaPop, Toco Toco, and Royal Tea.
Whilst customers of these above-mentioned bubble tea shops are young and middle-aged people because they generally charge a higher price for premium ingredients, the Vevy shop has become more popular with pupils and students.
Located at 71 and 73 Phan Chau Trinh, the Vevy has famous for its delicious drinks at very reasonable prices.
Ms Nguyen Thi Tuong Vy, the shop’s owner, revealed that her products are entirely made with top-quality ingredients such as fresh milk products of Da Lat Milk and Vinamilk, Indonesian butter, Australian cream, Thai Nguyen tea products, and hand-made pearls.
She added that her products are often priced at between 19,000 VND and 35,000. Her shop opens from 9.00am to 10.00pm daily.
