Where to go for shopping in Da Nang depends on what you want to buy, and your budget. For general food shopping, there are 3 main shop types to select from:

Markets
Market shopping is a very Vietnamese tradition.  In the markets you can find all kinds of fresh food, vegetables, clothes, shoes, and other necessities sold by locals at their own stalls.  The prices are generally cheaper than in other places.  You can bargain both the price and the quantity.

Private convenience stores
Private convenience stores look like mini supermarkets, and are mostly owned by a family.  Here you can find all the daily necessities including dried foods, beverages, home appliances, and essential items such as toothpaste, toilet paper, and sanitary towels.  Most of the goods are sold at a low price.

Supermarkets
Goods here are more diverse and carefully selected as compared to those in the markets or private convenience stores, and thus the price is relatively higher. 

In addition to standard supermarkets, there are also specialised ones such as computer supermarkets, mobile phone supermarkets, and electronics supermarkets.
