Specialised seafood market
Apart from its beauty, Da Nang boasts a wide range of fresh seafood dishes. In addition to the numerous restaurants serving seafood, the city is home to a specialised seafood market. On sale at this market are fresh shrimps, crabs, fish, squid, snails, and oysters.
Located at the T-junction of Hoang Sa and Le Duc Tho streets, the market has a few small stalls which sell a full range of seafood freshly caught and carried from the local fishing boats to the shore by local fishermen. The seafood is often displayed in large plastic bowls into which oxygen tubes are placed to keep the seafood alive until consumption.

In addition, on bumper catch days, several local fishermen sit in lines at the market to sell their fresh produce. This is when buyers have the best opportunity to select their favourite fresh seafood.
Most notably, buyers seldom drive a hard bargain with the market sellers because the seafood is sold at a reasonable price anyway. Therefore, both buyers and sellers usually feel happy with their transactions at the market.
After choosing their favourite seafood, customers can then enjoy delicious steamed, roasted and grilled seafood dishes, which are accompanied by salt, pepper, lemon, chilli and culinary herbs. As a result, the market has become ever more popular with locals and visitors and is given the name “an lien” (instant market).
