Mr Tran Duy Dung is now touting for business at a chain of kiosks selling porcelain and ceramic items along Nguyen Dinh Tuu. He and other traders donated 45 million VND each to the construction of a total of 29 kiosks in active response to appeals made by the district authorities last year. Thanks to their donations, all of them are now enjoying exemption from the monthly business premise lease fee of 450,000 VND for their rented kiosks. The traders are only required to pay 30,000 VND and 15,000 VND each month for sanitation and guard services respectively there.
Another trader Nguyen Thi Quyen, who has about 10 years of experience in trading traditional handicrafts and aloeswood (Aquilaria malaccensis), expressed her delight at learning more from other traders at the specialised area in selecting products’ designs to satisfy the customers’ tastes and identifying ways to promote sales.
Apart from a wide range of traditional handicrafts, the specialised area also features over 70 kiosks selling flowers, plants and ornamental creatures, with each covering an area of 36m2. These kiosks are attracting a great deal of attention from residents from across the city.
It is common to see the bustling atmosphere of trading activities at these stores from early morning until midnight.
Many traders highlighted the importance of the district authorities’ support in boosting the publicity of this specialised area amongst locals and visitors from both home and abroad in the coming years.
In addition, regulations about the placement of the stores’ billboards in synchronous manner will be issued in a bid to ensure the aesthetics of their fronts. Also, an instruction board for the specialised area will be placed very soon.
